THE PAST.

Irene's POV.
****
Frederick was up to something.

I narrowed my eyes as he walked to the elevator, wondering what he was doing. For the past month, he has been sketchy. He had been staying out late and was keeping secrets.

The thing is that it was incredibly diffcult for him to keep secrets from me, which was why I wondered what he was doing behind my back.

I told Mitchelle about it but she just shrugged it off. Told Kate and Maria but everyone thought I was been paranoid and there was nothing wrong.

I was worried that I was overthinking things, but my guts were not wrong. To begin with, I didn't think that there was anything wrong with our relationship he was just... not as present as before. I was scared because I loved him and our relationship was already about 18 months now. I love him so much and wanted everything to go smoothly.

Frederick still showed up for me and our loved is still as passionate as before but I wondered what he could be hiding.

My phone ringed and I was pulled out of my thought. I narrowed my eyes seeing the display on my screen. It was Davis. After what he did to me about a year ago, I avoided him like a plague.

Davis promised that I was due for a promotion but at last meeting, Mecca was giving. It was so heartbreaking to realize what he did so I just quietly did my work and avoided him. He tried to approach me multiple times, why? I still do not know. He tried to call me but I didn't pick any of calls and at some point he gave up.

I decided against picking his but I wondered what he could want. It could be work related and he was still my boss regarded of how much of an asshole he was.

"Hello Irene, good morning," his voice boomed from the phone. I returned into the large empty apartment and found my seat one of the couch.

"Good Morning Mr Harrison," I made sure to call his name. He sighed realising what I was doing. I didn't forgive people easily. Hell, I never forgive people who have done an injustice toward me, so I decided it was better to keep it simply and professional.

"We have a work event tonight and I need you to accompany me." Davis informed.

"Accompany you? Mr Davis, I am sorry but I am busy. I cannot loan out my free time." I sneered. Okay maybe I was still very fucking angry at him.

"I am not telling you, Irene! This is an order! You either come! Or you are fired!" he cut the call and I scoffed, angrily. The nerve of this bastard! Can you believe him?!

So that was how I ended up in a car ride with Davis, driving me up to some upscale neighborhood in New York. I frowned, he didn't even tell me what exactly we were doing here, he just told me some work event which was very vague.

"Whete exactly are we going to?" I have tried to call Frederick to inform him of where I was several times but I couldn't reach him. It was starting to get very annoying at this point in time but I couldn't complain.

"You will see when you get there," Davis said, looking like he was not comfortable. He gave me the dress code and that was the only thing that was bearable in the entirely situation.

My favourite colour being the dress code. I didn't wear anything to fancy but he made sure to boldly write it in my text, DRESS TO IMPRESS. I wanted to knock his head but I thought about it, he was still my boss.

The car slow down in front of a large golden gate, the mansion behind the gate was beautiful, mansion was an understatement for that building, it was a palace.

"What am I to say and do when I get there?" I asked as we started slowing down, I noticed that there was a statue in front of the command, it had a large command and looked like a medieval castle that had been renovated. It was vintage and beautiful.
