In the warm, bustling town of Vianden, nestled within the verdant hills of the Kingdom of Reuben, Viktor tended to his curious thoughts. The past three months had unfolded like a vibrant tapestry. His adoptive parents, Raphael and Nina—adventurers of notable repute—had taken him into their care amidst tales of magic, battles, and the communion of family. From the moment he had opened his eyes as a babbling boy named Viktor, a new life wrapped around him like the comforting embrace of a favorite blanket.
It's been three months since we arrived here in Vianden, Viktor mused internally while watching his cheerful mother. Nina, with her long golden blonde hair cascading over her shoulders and her blue eyes sparkling like the river that wound its way through town, animatedly conversed with Raphael about the day's plans. A lot has happened. Meeting both sides of my parents families was surreal. Apparently, this world is not so different from the one I came from—except for the magic, mystical creatures, and monsters, of course.
He marveled at simple things—like the clear waters of the lake nearby, or the way their home dripped with warmth and laughter. The Guardians of Vianden had welcomed him with open arms, and he found joy in the mundane happiness they created together. I have learned so much about them—not just as adventurers, but as human beings. Honestly, I feel like I'm so lucky to have a father like Raphael and a mother like Nina, he thought, a fond smile creeping onto his face as he watched Raphael crack a joke that made Nina throw her head back in laughter.
Indeed, those moments of joy were reminders of the bliss he had craved in his previous life, which now felt like a distant dream. His heart still remembered Ashley—the love they shared, shadowed by their last moments together. But in this life, he could not dwell on what was lost; he had to embrace this new beginning. Until the blessing day comes, I am going to enjoy being spoiled and loved, he silently vowed, as happiness bubbled within him.
Ruckus erupted as Viktor crawled from his comfortable spot on the sun-drenched rug, evading Nina's grasp with mischievous giggles. "Come on now, Viktor! Look how messy you've got! It's time for a bath!" She feigned frustration but with warmth that could melt hearts. With a quick glance, Viktor saw her pull out a bottle of hot cocoa milk, a sweet treat he adored more than anything. The moment he laid eyes on it, he scurried like a rabbit under the table, heart fluttering with the thrill of the chase.
"Gotcha!" Nina exclaimed as she succeeded in yanking him out from his cloistered hideout. Viktor giggled uncontrollably as she hugged him close, their warmth merging. "Don't worry," she continued, holding his gaze with a smile that lit up her face, "your hot cocoa won't spoil. It'll stay warm while you enjoy your bath." With that, she placed the bottle high on the magic shelf—a cherished storage that kept their provisions safe from curious little hands like his.
Just as Viktor anticipated the fun of splashing about in the bath, a sudden knock echoed through their cottage, startling them both. Nina glanced towards the door, confusion painting her features. "I wonder who that could be," she said, setting Viktor down. The little boy turned his head, his curiosity piqued.
