Volume 1 - Arc 4 [Canopy's redemption]

Tony headed to bed to rest after everything in the bed that was kept in his office closing his eyes to rest having a deep realistic feeling nightmares of Emma and geckos' deaths haunting his dreams making him trash about in his sleep with a cold sweat. The nightmares continued while Tony was asleep showing every detail of what had happened to Emma and gecko the night they were brutally killed from Tonys actions from his enraged depressive state. Every little thing played out from beginning to end of the horrifying night causing Tony to wake up in a sweat and scared for what the dream would do to him mentally. Tony laid there in bed with his eyes open in fear of himself for a moment before deciding he needed to get up and clear his mind after that nightmare. He sat up clenching his suits top panting hard sitting up with his legs over the side of the bed staring to the floor. "Just a dream... It's over- I am past this..." Tony softly stuttered out attempting to soothe himself. He tried to calm himself down but the nightmare of the murders was still stuck in his head... he didn't want to think about that horrific night and the details of it all but he couldn't stop thinking of it. "Just... just a dream..." Tony muttered to himself as he got up from the bed and walked over to his desk in his small office and sat down staring at the ground hoping he wouldn't have another nightmare about it and what he had done. The images of Emma and Geckos deaths were still playing in his head over and over. His head snapped up to the door looking at Johnathan standing in the doorway looking concerned standing in what seem to be his pajamas wearing a plain white shirt and yellow and black plaid lounge pants. "C-cap-?" Tony mumbled wiping the sweat off his face. Tony looked over at Johnathan and cleared his throat as he tried to put on a face of confidence. "Yeah? I'm fine... I promise I'm fine." Tony spoke trying to reassure Johnathan that he was okay despite him looking extremely worried about Tony's state of mind. Tony was clearly shaken up a bit by the nightmare. "Don't worry it was... it was just a dream." Tony spoke hoping Johnathan would accept his answer and not see Tony in his vulnerable state. Tony then turned his back to Johnathan a moment taking deep breaths. "What's up anyway- ?" Tony asked glancing over his shoulder at Johnathan. Johnathan's face changed when he saw Tony's back turned as it was a clear sign of vulnerability and Tony's fear that Johnathan would see that he was in a bad state. "Is everything okay son? You were... you were thrashing about in your sleep." Johnathan said in a concerned tone wondering what could have possibly caused such a horrible and terrifying nightmare for Tony. Johnathan was clearly worried about if Tony was able to get a sound sleep after waking up in a cold sweat, not wanting to stress Tony out anymore then he already had by waking him up. "Captain... i did some really bad shit okay-" Tony sighed rubbing his hand through his hair stressed out. "I keep reliving what i did in my dreams-" He said softly. "Hey... hey it's alright. It's just... it's just a dream and not reality. Yes, you did something really bad in the past but that is over with i think." Johnathan spoke with a gentle and caring tone trying to reassure Tony that the nightmare shouldn't affect him and that the dream he saw will not change anything from that night in the past. "Don't let it ruin you... what happened in the past can't change but this is the future... you are not the same man back from that horrible night... you've changed... you've become better." Johnathan added trying to get his to calm down some. Tony nodded relaxing a bit cracking one of the office windows a bit as he raised a cigarette to his lips with his free hand. He then turned grabbing a lighter proceeding to take a long drag after lighting the end of the cigarette glancing to Johnathan exhaling as he offered him one. "Need a smoke sting...?" Tony chuckled trying to lighten the moment a tad embarrassed over how his own captain saw him just now. "Um... sure..." Johnathan spoke taking a bit hesitant as he seemed to be slightly interested in a cigarette at the moment as he took one nodding thinking it would help him Aswell. Tony watched Johnathan take the cigarette in his hands as Tony turned back to take another long drag of his cigarette and just then Johnathan lit his. Tony quickly turned to look over at Johnathan with the cigarette in his fingers and saw Johnathan light it then take a drag of it and watched him blow the smoke out. "So how much did Hercules complain about missing me when i was gone?" Tony asked curiously leaning against the window sill. Johnathan chuckled a little bit as he took a long drag then exhaled it slowly as the smoke blew out of his mouth into the wind. Johnathan looked out the window and at Tony. "Oh... he complained about you all the time. He said it felt wrong that you weren't there. I think he liked you more than he liked to admit... he just didn't like to show it much." Johnathan answered as tony exhaled a bit more smoke slowly before looking back out of the window thinking of Hercules and all the times they trained together. "I'm sorry i had left- but trust me i had to... i was so hostile i couldn't handle it." Tony spoke softly as he took another drag glancing out the window now Aswell. "Don't worry i understand tony... i do. You were in a rough patch. You needed time to figure yourself out and be alone. I understood that and tried to not push you to come back like Hercules did. He was really rough on it." Johnathan spoke looking out the window and took another long drag of the cigarette before exhaling it out. "At least you came back though. Were all glad you did." Johnathan spoke with a soft smile looking back at Tony. "I didn't mind how hard he wanted me to come back... felt good to have what feels like a family. I see you like a father captain..." tony said looking at Johnathan again his voice softly cracking as he took another drag of his cigarette. Johnathan paused silently and took a long last drag of the cigarette before exhaling the last bit into the night sky as the clouds slowly began to move again. Johnathan looked down at the windowsill to his cigarette before looking back at Tony. "You're like a younger little brother to me... a son. I... i... have to look out for you ya know? "Johnathan scratched behind his head slightly embarrassed of his comment hoping tony wouldn't take it the wrong way. He took a deep breath as he took one last look at Tony and looked back out the window. Tony then softly chuckled nodding his head. "Yeah i know what you mean. Thank you for being here for me." Tony exclaimed as he patted Johnathan's shoulder giving a soft smile. "It's late- and training starts tomorrow so I'm going to head to bed" Tony said after putting his cigarette out walking to his bedside. "No problem son.. just making sure you have the support you need. Thats what captain stingers all about ya know?" Johnathan chuckled as he nodded at Tony and took one final hit of his cigarette before putting it out leaving just a bit of ashes at the end of it to be disposed of later. He turned to Tony and nodded once then walked out of his office before shutting the door and heading back to his quarters. Tony then got into his bed exhausted as he put his head on the pillow and closed his eyes ready to finally get some sleep without the nightmares haunting him. The night then went by with ease till dawn when tony got up stretching walking to the locker rooms after getting a coffee from the kitchen stopping at a wrapped box Infront of his locker with a note from Hercules. Tony lifted the envelope opening it curiously then reading it out loud. "Dear Tony, Thought your old suit was dorky and too girly- i made you a new one- a better one- its red and black and white!!! will look awesome with your wings and guns- enjoy buddy!!!" Tony laughed after reading this opening the gift instantly excited. Tony was very excited when he saw the box in front of his locker and took a deep breath smiling a bit as he read the note Hercules had left for him. Tony smiled at the note and opened the box taking a quick look at the new suit Hercules made for him. "Wow it looks great Hercules I'll have to show Stinger it later... He paused for a moment and looked at the suit for a moment before ripping off the protected paper wrapping off the suit to reveal the new suit Hercules sent him. "Thanks Hercules..." Tony then looked at the suit and took a deep breath ready to try on the new costume. Tony then walked off and put the suit on in bliss that it had fit with ease perfectly. He then walked to the mirror posing and flexing his wings admiring the suits designs and fit on his body and with how it looks with his wings. "Quite impressive-" Tony said impressed. Tony then looked in the mirror again at his new suit that Hercules sent him. "Wow... this suit is amazing..." Tony spoke admiring how well the suit fit, and the colors Hercules chose were very fitting and unique. "I can't wait to show stinger the suit Hercules sent me... it's going to look amazing!" Tony said before walking out of the locker room to go to his office to get ready for training today. Tony then got walked to the training hall proudly with his wings opened right to Hercules and stinger. "Check it~" Tony joked as he posed. Stinger looked on as Tony walked into the training hall and saw the suit Hercules sent him. he was surprised at how well it fit him and how much Tony liked it. "Wow... now that's what I'm talking about. Hercules knew you would look amazing in that suit Tony, and he was right. You look awesome in it." Stinger spoke with a proud tone as she looked at Tony admiring the new suit, he was wearing that fit him perfectly. he was impressed and happy for Tony knowing how much it means to him to have a new suit. "let's get started shall we" Tony smiled getting to work on the treadmill running. Tony and started running on the treadmill as Stinger watched on wanting to monitor him to make sure he pushed himself hard enough and didn't get hurt again from overworking himself. He seemed to be running on the treadmill at a good pace as he had been doing since he came back to captain stinger. "Keep it up Tony! Don't tire yourself out... but that's a healthy pace right there." Stinger spoke as she stood there monitoring Tony to make sure he didn't get hurt while also pushing himself enough. Tony's face was a mess with sweat as he worked out on the treadmill keeping a solid pace as he glanced over at Hercules lifting the weights. Tony was impressed and wanted to see what he could do after working on the treadmill for some time now. He made his way over to Hercules with a smile on his face excited by what Hercule's was doing. "Hey Hercule's... think you could help me train for a minute? I want to see what I'm capable of after i work out for bit on the treadmill." Tony spoke with excitement in his voice to Hercules. Hercules looked over at Tony and put the weights down then walked over to Tony as he looked at him. "What's up my little friend? Wanna test your strength and ability after working out? I'll test you to the max then so make sure you're ready for that." Hercules spoke with a smirk and a confident tone as he stood next to Tony with his arms crossed in front of his chest looking ready to test Tony's strength and skills in the gym. Tony got the feeling Hercules was excited to test how far he could go after working out for some time now. "You know it big guy- gets do this" Tony said as he ran to the sparring ring. "Just like old times!" He laughed excited. Hercules nodded with a smirk as he watched Tony jump into the sparring ring. "Just like old times... you ready to get your ass whooped today? I know i am." Hercules spoke with a smirk still on his face as he stepped into the sparring ring alongside Tony. "You get first move because I'm too nice." Hercules spoke with a smirk still on his face as he watched Tony wanting to get the first move in the spar. Tony got into a defensive stance in the sparring ring getting ready for Hercules to attack. "Bring it on! I'm ready to give you the ass beating you deserve so come on! come at me with all you got!" Tony spoke with a smirk on his face as he continued to wait for Hercules to make the first move in this spar. Captain Stinger was standing off to the side of the sparring ring making sure Tony wouldn't get hurt but still making him work and push himself hard enough to make sure his strength and ability was up to standards. After a few more moments of waiting Tony decided to make the first move. He ran forward throwing swings and jabs at Hercules. Hercules didn't back down and dodged some of Tony's jabs and swings with ease with a smirk on his face still as he watched what Tony could do while he dodged his attacks. After a few more moments Hercules decided to counter Tony's attack by dodging and sending a punch at his face to see how Tony would react to a counterattack. Tony panicked and threw his arms up blocking his face throwing a kick at Hercules side knowing he won't be able to harm him much due to his thick skin. Hercules then nodded slightly as the kick hit his side, but he didn't even budge nor even react to it knowing it wouldn't hurt him. He took that time to counterattack with a round kick at Tony's side and threw another punch to his stomach to see his reaction and see if any of the damage would go through. Hercules was impressed by Tony's skills and felt good about the fact he kept it close until now. Tony's eyes went wide as he saw Hercules coming in for the kick and the punch. He quickly dodged to the side of Hercules's kick and dodged the punch he threw at him and countered it with a punch to the side of Hercules's face before following it up with a kick to the shin to see how it would affect Hercules's thick skin. Hercules then stepped-up kicking Tony in the stomach and punching him in the side which both Tony dodged and countered by punching Hercules in the stomach and following it with 2 kicks to the shin knowing Hercules wouldn't budge from them. "You tired of being a punching bag yet?" Tony laughed as he threw more punches and swings. Hercules laughed a bit before punching Tony in the stomach causing Tony to get knocked back a few feet. Hercules then sent a punch at Tony's jaw trying to see his reaction to it. "This is just to see how much progress you've made." Hercules spoke before sending a kick to his chest knowing his body could take it and wouldn't get him hurt. Hercules wanted to see if Tony learned anything so far and how much better or more powerful, he got. Hercules was glad to see him get stronger and have better stamina than before. Hercules was impressed by Tony's ability. Tony took the kick to his chest with a loud grunt of pain as he slowly stepped back still wanting to keep the spar going. Hercules knew Tony could take it and would get back up from the kick. Captain Stinger was on the sidelines not far off from the spar watching Hercules testing how far Tony could go. Hercules then sent another roundhouse kick at Tony, but Tony quickly dodged it and sent a jab at Hercules chest with a smirk on his face wanting to land a hit on Hercules at least once during this spar. Hercules dodged the jab and sent a punch at Tony's chin. Tony let out a shout as Hercules fist made contact as he stumbled to the floor on his bottom. "D-damn-" Tony rubbed some blood off his chin getting to his feet rushing at Hercules throwing serious punches and swings taking the sparring match more seriously. Hercules was surprised at how serious and aggressive Tony got as he sent his punches and swings at Hercules. Hercules then got serious seeing Tony's new aggressive moves and sent his own attacks of kicks and punches towards Tony's face trying to see how Tony would dodge him and counter him without Hercules doing anything. Hercules was impressed by Tony's strength and skill seeing he improved greatly since they last sparred together. Hercules was pushing himself and Tony hard during this spar to see how they would both react to a more serious spar. Tony then sent a kick at Hercules' shin trying to see if the kick would even effect Hercules. Hercules didn't budge from the kick at all and just stood there taking it before he rushed Tony and sent a roundhouse kick to his face and followed that up with another one. Hercules then stepped back after kicking Tony and watched him with a smirk on his face as he did. Hercules was impressed with Tony's new kick and was curious to see if it was possible after what he saw earlier with the shin kicks Tony sent Hercules way. "T-tch- you haven't changed much Herc" Tony laughed as he recovered and rushed at Hercules again before pausing at Stinger shouting enough. Hercules then looked at Stinger and raised an eyebrow not expecting him to call the spar off. "What? what's wrong Stinger? You know were just testing our ability." Hercules spoke with a smirk on his face not liking the spar to end yet but would like to see what else Tony or himself could do. Tony then softly gulped watching Stinger climb into the ring. "Looks like Captain wants a turn" Tony joked nervously. Hercules looked over to Stinger getting into the ring and then back to Tony speaking nervously as well with a slight smirk on his face. "Looks like it's your turn now to fight Stinger. Let's see what you got now Tony." Hercules spoke in a joking way as he's curious to see what happens when Stinger fights Tony. Stinger then stood there waiting for Tony to do his first move while Hercules was watching them patiently from the side of the ring with a smirk still on his face. Tony then raised his fists rushing at Stinger engaging in hand and hand combat. Stinger was surprised at Tony's bravery and boldness that he decided to rush at him first. Stinger smirked a bit before he dodged Tony's swing and counter attacked with a punch to Tony's stomach causing him to step back a little. Stinger then sent a upper cut to Tony's chin waiting for his reaction to see how he does against him. Stinger was ready to see how their spar turns out. Hercules was standing off to the side of the ring watching them with a smile on his face impressed by how well Tony's doing against Stinger. Tony smirked at Stinger and then dodged Stinger's upper cut before rushing him again and dodging again before kicking Stinger in the shin and sending a jab to his jaw again trying to see his reaction to it. Stinger then stepped back and watched Tony. Stinger smirked and waited for him to either attack again so Stinger can try some moves or waited for Tony to dodge the move he sent earlier with the punch to his stomach and the jab to his chin. Stinger was impressed with Tony's skills and is excited to see what he's going to do next. Tony ducked under Stingers swings throwing punches of his own at stingers sides and stomach area. "Is that all you have old man-" Tony laughed. Stinger smirked as Tony sent those punches to him and sent a punch right to Tony's face and knocked him on his back for a moment. Stinger then sent a roundhouse kick to Tony's side and his shin while Tony was on the ground to see how Tony's ability was when fighting while on his back. Captain Stinger was enjoying this spar seeing the progression Tony made in his skills throughout and how well he's doing against him. Even Hercules was impressed by the progress Tony made over the course he was with captain stinger since Hercules himself knows firsthand the pain of a captain's training. Tony got up slowly lunging at Stinger from close to the ground throwing a sweep kick. Stinger got caught off guard by Tony's quick sweep kick and fell to the ground. Stinger quickly got up and sent a series of rapid jabs at Tony knowing they worked a bit. Stinger then sent a punch at his stomach trying to catch him off guard while he was attacking Tony's chest with the jabs. Hercules watched on proudly seeing how Tony has improved and is excited for Tony's future. Stinger smiled a bit seeing how well Tony has improved throughout the spar. Tony kept it up doing his best trying to keep up before being flipped into a chokehold by stinger. "a-ack-! i-i tap-!!" Tony spat. Tony fell into a chokehold by stinger and quickly tapped out. Stinger then let go of the hold and smiled as he walked up to Tony. "Haha you've done great today Tony you have improved greatly since we started training. Now get some rest and relax you've earned it for today, but don't go telling Hercules you've beat me yet because I doubt, he would believe you." Stinger spoke with a smirk and a laugh before slapping Tony on the back walking off and heading out of the training room. Hercules walked forward and gave Tony a friendly hug while nodding his head with a proud smile on his face.
