AUTHOR'POV-
As Nirvaan walked out of the office, Shivani asked Arvind, "What happened? Why was Bhai so angry?"
Arvind looked at her and asked, "Do you have any idea what they were discussing?"
Shivani replied casually, "They were just eating their lunch. Why?"
Arvind stared at her in disbelief and said, "You stupid girl, couldn't you have said that in front of Nirvaan?" He shook his head in frustration and walked away.
Arvind went to speak with Nirvaan, but he had already left. Arvind tried calling him, but Nirvaan didn't answer.
Inside their cabin, Aayansh and Kanika were sitting together. Kanika, however, remained silent, holding a keychain in her hands. She stared at it with a mix of emotions she couldn't quite express.
After a while, Kanika's father arrived. Shivani asked, "Do you have an appointment or something?"
He replied, "I'm her father. I have every right to be here." Shivani glared at him but chose not to argue further. He walked past her and entered Kanika's cabin.
As Kanika saw her father, her anger flared up, but she managed to control it. She asked, "How are you? What brings you here? You could have called me." Aayansh also greeted him politely. Sanjay, her father, responded, "I need to discuss something important with you." He then sat down in the seat next to Aayansh.
Yes, Dad, what's so important?" Kanika asked.
Beta, I'm heading to London for some business activities," her father said. "I came to see you because I won't be able to contact you from there for the next two weeks. I need you to handle things here if anything comes up.
Oh, sure, Dad. It's my responsibility-you don't need to mention it," Kanika replied. They continued their conversation, and soon after, her father left.
As her father left, Kanika's grip on the glass of water tightened until it shattered in her hand, blood dripping onto the floor. Aayansh noticed the drops of blood and immediately stood up, exclaiming, "Have you lost your mind? What are you doing?" He tried to remove the shards from her hand, but the glass was embedded so deeply that it had cut into her skin.
Kanika, seething with anger, said, "What does my father think? That I'm stupid? I don't know what he's planning. I just want to kill that old bastard, but I can't do anything just because of-" She trailed off, her frustration boiling over as she began to smash everything on the desk. In moments, everything in her cabin was scattered across the floor.
Aayansh tried to calm Kanika down as she continued to rage, but the situation only grew more intense. Shivani entered the cabin, startled by the noise of things being smashed. She froze at the sight of the chaos and the blood on the floor, her face pale with fear.
Kanika, noticing her, snapped, "Get out of here! Don't show your face until I call for you."
Aayansh tried to calm her, but Kanika wouldn't listen. He suggested, "Let's go to the doctor," but she ignored him.
Kanika was in pain, but it wasn't just from the wound on her hand. The real agony was in her heart, where Nirvaan's words echoed over and over. It felt as though someone was repeatedly plunging a knife into her chest.
Knowing that Kanika would only listen to one person, Aayansh played a recording that Nirvaan had shared with her during their time together. As Nirvaan's voice filled the room, he said, "I love you, my sunshine. I love you more than words can say. I can't imagine my life without you. Please take care of yourself when I'm not with you. You know how precious you are to me."
As Kanika listened to the recording, her anger began to dissipate. Her grip on the shattered glass loosened, and she finally let it fall from her hand.
Aayansh held Kanika's hand and led her out of the cabin to take her to the doctor. As they left, he told Shivani, "Tell Vipul to bring someone to clean up and restore the cabin to how it was before. Shivani nodded in response, and they both left the building.
After some time, the doctor had finished bandaging Kanika's hand. Aayansh and Kanika returned to her home, where she sat quietly, lost in thought. Aayansh knew that Nirvaan's words had deeply affected her.
Wanting to break the silence and lift her spirits, he suggested, "How about we watch a Korean drama? I'll make you some tasty buldak carbonara-your favorite ramen."
Kanika replied, "No, I'm not in the mood right now." Aayansh could see that she was weighed down by something heavy on her chest and hoped that getting her to talk might help lift some of that burden.
Aayansh gently asked, "Can I ask you something personal, if you don't mind?
Kanika responded, "Yes, you can ask me anything."
Aayansh hesitated for a moment before asking, "I've known you since you were 18, but you've never told me why you hated your dad so much. I understand the accident happened later, but you had these feelings before that."
Kanika hesitated for a moment before beginning to share her story from the past.
KANIKA'S POV:-
"I wasn't always like this," I began, hesitating for a moment before opening up. From the time I was little, I loved my dad more than anything. I was always on his side, no matter what. I remember how he was my role model, my hero. Whatever he said felt like it was set in stone for me.
He always fulfilled my every wish and treated me like a princess. If I asked for something, he'd get it for me. Sometimes, even when I couldn't say what I wanted, he seemed to understand and gave it to me anyway.
But I remember one day very clearly. I was in second grade, and it was late at night. He was sitting at the dining table, surrounded by empty bottles of alcohol, his face flushed and eyes bloodshot. He was yelling at my mom, his voice harsh and dripping with disdain. 'I spend all my money on you beggars,' he shouted. From the window of my room, I watched in fear as he berated her, treating her like a servant. I was terrified but felt helpless, unable to face them or intervene. The image of him stripping away the loving facade and revealing a cruel side left me feeling shattered and confused.
I witnessed him physically abusing my mother, treating her with utter disregard and disrespect, as if she were nobody and devoid of any human dignity.
I began to hate my father from that day on. He repeatedly inquired about the reason behind my changed behavior, but from that day on, I felt an inexplicable aversion towards him, and I couldn't bear the thought of him being near me.
I've asked my mom multiple times to get a divorce, but she keeps saying that I have no one else and that he's a good person. It feels like she's trying to make me not hate him. but I know She's worried about society's overly outdated mindset.
When I grew up, and when he discovered my relationship with Kiaan and learned that Kiaan was Christian while we are Hindus, he reacted with anger and violence and he also beats me. He insisted that these differences were a threat to his pride and honor, using them as an excuse to drive us apart. His actions reflect a deeply ingrained, narrow-minded mentality shaped by societal expectations and prejudices.
From that day on, my hatred for him only grew stronger. I know he loves me, but I only feel hatred towards him. and I began to cry as I shared this with Ayaan.
He hugged me, and I hugged him back as well. It was a friendly embrace and I know that Aayansh would never cross his boundaries.
