Chapter 4

CHAPTER 4 - Her.

Lucy.

"Bayad po." I handed my payment to the jeepney driver and quickly got off as soon as I received my change.

I was drenched in sweat by the time I stepped down, the heat of the day nearly unbearable. I couldn't understand it-how could others still look so fresh despite the scorching sun, while I looked like a soaked chick from all the sweat?

I was utterly exhausted, and the heat only made things worse. I swear, masarap mamatay!

I headed straight to the store to buy a soft drink, desperate for some relief from the relentless heat.

"Pabili po." Tawag ko sa atensiyon ng tindero. "Coke nga po, pa lagay lang po sa plastic. " Dagdag ko pa nang lumingon ito sakin.

Tamad itong tumayo at kumuha ng nakaboteng coke sa refrigerator nila at kumuha ng plastic.

"Luh." Sabi ko nang ini- anot nito sakin ang nakaboteng coke na nakalagay sa plastic!

Nanlaki ang mga mata nito ng mapagtanto ang ibig ko sabihin. Galing ata sa tulog si kuya, magulo ang buhok niya eh at yung mga mata niya halatang galing sa tulog.

"S-sorry." He handed me the plastic bag with a Coke inside, complete with a straw. As he passed it to me, he scratched the back of his neck, a hint of a smile on his face. I quickly extended my hand to give him the payment, and he accepted it with a nod. After a moment, he returned my change, looking a bit amused by my desperate need for a drink.

"Thank you." Sabi ko at akmang aalis na nang tawagin niya ulit ako.

"Ah wait!" Tumingin ako sa kaniya. "Diba Ikaw yung kapatid ni Luna?" Sumeryuso ang mukha ko dahil doon.

Luna. Nickname yun ng ate ko since Lunette yung name niya. Lunette Nyxia.

"Bakit?"

"Ah..." Parang nagdadalawang isip pa ito kung sasabihin niya ba or hindi. "Wala wala!"

Umalis na lang ako sa harapan niya at naglakad pauwi sa apartment na tinitirhan namin nila ate.

Tinapon ko muna sa basurahan ang plastic nang maubos ko na ang laman nun. Kakatok na sana ako sa pinto nang mapansin ko na nakabukas na ito.

I furrowed my brow at that. I looked around to see if anyone was nearby before I stepped inside. I carefully set my things down on the sofa, taking a moment to let out a sigh of relief. After that, I made my way straight to the bedroom.

"Ate." Galit ko na tawag kay ate.

She immediately shoved the man she had been kissing, causing him to tumble to the floor. I glanced over to see who the guy was and realized he was the brother of the vendor from the store earlier!

"You should learn how to knock," the guy said, his tone sarcastic. I shot him a glare, irritation bubbling inside me as I yanked my sister away. "Hey, we're not done yet!" He exclaimed, his voice firm, determined to confront the situation head-on.

Akmang hahawakan niya ang kapatid ko nang samaan ko ito ng tingin. "Subukan mo!"

"Sino 'to?" Tanong ko kay ate.
