Everyone coward in fear as Amon walked past, sheep plush, fuzzy tail, and everything.
Yamato smiled down at him proudly, already pleased that he had established himself as someone important among the Twilight Order's ranks. Moroyama walked behind them, his head held high in honor as the bodyguard and teacher for Amon. Baijiu Gui, a woman of few words but held the terrifying reputation as the most skillful assassin, walked beside Moroyama, assigned Yamato's helper in raising Amon.
"Moroyama, Baijiu Gui," Yamato said loudly as they got to their destination, a large dark oak door, "you both understand your roles, yes?"
"Of course, boss," Moroyama said proudly, "I will teach and protect Amon as long as you will it."
Gui simply nodded, enough for Yamato to turn around and open the door.
Inside, was an assortment of things, from battle training equipment to a chalkboard and desk, all basked in a soft light from overhead windows. It was the perfect environment for a child to learn, Yamato thought.
"Come, Amon," he said, pushing Amon in. Amon looked up at him, wide eyed and confused.
"I don't need to do all this, right?" He asked.
"Don't you want to grow strong enough to protect your family?" Yamato asked back. Amon drew his sheep toy closer to his chest before turning and venturing in.
Yamato smiled in satisfaction as he, Moroyama, and Gui walked in as well.
"What do I do first?" Amon asked, standing awkwardly in the middle of the room.
"I believe you deserve a refresher," Yamato said as he pulled two chairs over, "it's simple, really."
Amon climbed onto the chair and looked up at his uncle. His uncle who terrified him, but his uncle he knew was his only family left.
"You agreed with me when you said you wanted to be reunited with Ace."
"Y-yeah."
"Therefore, you must learn to fight so when we do find Ace, you can continue to protect him from the evils of the world."
"Oh."
"Alright then!" Yamato stood up and pointed at his chair. "Moroyama, your turn."
"Yes sir!"
***
Weeks passed, and Amon was already getting the hand of fighting. He was learning how to use a sword, like Moroyama, even though he still couldn't use a real sword yet. Yamato watched with pride, already impressed with Amon's work.
"Yamato?" Gui asked, walking up behind him. He looked at her, eyebrows raised.
"Can we speak alone?"
"Why, yes." He said, walking out and into the deserted hallway.
Gui stood silently, trying to decide if she really wanted to speak up or not.
"Well?" Yamato asked impatiently. "We haven't all day, spit it out."
"You said a while ago that you wouldn't interfere with 'family matters' unless-"
"This is a special occasion!" He snapped at her.
"But the Union-"
"They know nothing," Yamato growled. "They let my sister and her husband killed."
Gui noticed the rising electricity from Yamato's fingertips and stepped back.
"I apologize for provoking you." She said quietly.
"Yes, yes," he said in annoyance, "go and make a check around the fences."
"...fine."
Yamato glared at her as she left. What an annoying girl! She always had to argue with him! He'd aught to get used to it before he blew up in front of Amon.
Sighing, he walked back in and looked at Amon. He held his sword near perfectly and swung it with a little less precision than Yamato would have liked, but overall he was on the path to greatness.
"Alright, Amon," he called, walking over and smiling down at Amon, "it's time for dinner."
***
Dinner was quiet. Amon picked at his food, looking out the window, the rays of the setting sun catching Amon's glass cup.
"What's wrong?" Yamato asked.
"Nothing." Amon replied quickly.
"Something clearly is. You usually eat your food so fast."
"..." Amon stared down at his food.
Moroyama peeked in with a smile. "Boss, I'd just like to praise Amon."
"By all means." Yamato replied.
"I've never seen someone so invested in the art of swordplay. I think he's ready for the next step."
"This early?"
"Well, this is the normal amount of time. I-"
Amon's glass cup suddenly shattered, and his hand began to bleed. His face grew embarrassed, and he got up and ran away.
