As the days passed, the reality of Hana’s pregnancy began to sink in. The other counters noticed the changes in her—the way she moved more carefully, the way Mun seemed even more protective of her.
Mun is like a hawk watching Hana protectively and following her every move.
It didn’t take long for them to figure out what was going on, and when they did, their reactions were a mix of shock, joy, and concern.
“Pregnant?” Ms. Chu exclaimed, her eyes wide with surprise. “Hana, are you sure?”
Hana nodded, her hand resting on her still-flat stomach.
“I took several test, and it was positive.”Jang Mul, who had been quietly sipping his tea, looked up with a serious expression. “This changes things,” he said, his voice calm but firm. “You’re going to need to take it easy, Hana. No more dangerous missions. You should always remember that you're carrying your bundle of joy.”
Hana opened her mouth to protest, but Mun cut her off. “He’s right, Hana-yah,” Mun said, his voice gentle but resolute. “You need to take care of yourself and the baby. We can handle the missions."
Hana’s instinct was to argue, the fighter in her unwilling to stand down, but as she looked around at the concerned faces of her fellow counters, she knew they were right. Her priority had shifted; she wasn’t just responsible for herself anymore.
“I know,” she finally said, her voice softer. “I’ll do whatever I need to keep our baby safe.” She softly caress her tummy with a gentle smile on her face.
Ms. Chu’s expression softened, and she reached out to squeeze Hana’s hand. “You’re going to be a wonderful mother, Hana. And don’t worry, we’ll take care of everything here.”
Hana smiled gratefully, the warmth of their support easing some of her anxiety. “Thank you,” she whispered.
Jang Mul cleared his throat, his serious expression softening slightly. “We’ll adjust our strategy to make sure you’re not put in harm’s way. But remember, Hana, you’re still a part of this team, just in a different role for now.”
Hana nodded, appreciating the thoughtfulness behind his words. “I won’t sit idly by. There are still ways I can help without being in the thick of the action.”
Mun wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her close. “And I’ll be right there with you,” he added, his voice full of determination. “We’ll make sure our family is safe.”
The word “family” made Hana’s heart swell with emotion. The idea of starting a family with Mun felt surreal, but it was a reality she was slowly embracing with each passing day.
