FLASHBACK CONTINUES
The training sessions between Taehyung and Jungkook had become a regular part of their days. Under the watchful eyes of King Jeon, the young princes sparred and practiced with growing skill and discipline. But beyond the swords and drills, these moments were precious to them both. They weren't just training-they were building something deeper. Jungkook, despite his strength and talent, found himself constantly in awe of Taehyung's grace and quiet wisdom. And Taehyung, ever so kind and patient, had come to treasure Jungkook's lively energy and devotion.
In the training yard, Taehyung would guide Jungkook's movements, correcting his form with gentle touches, offering words of encouragement that sent Jungkook's heart racing. They would laugh together when one of them would slip, Taehyung often teasing Jungkook for being too aggressive with his strikes, while Jungkook playfully complained that Taehyung was too calm for his own good.
One afternoon, after an intense sparring session, they lay side by side on the soft grass, catching their breath. The sun was setting, casting a warm glow over the palace grounds.
"You're getting better, Jungkook," Taehyung said with a soft smile, turning his head to look at the younger prince. "Your movements are becoming more fluid. Soon, you'll be unbeatable."
Jungkook grinned, pride swelling in his chest. "It's all thanks to you, hyung. You've been helping me a lot."
Taehyung chuckled, shaking his head. "You've always had the strength, Jungkook. You just needed a little guidance."
Jungkook's eyes lingered on Taehyung for a moment longer than usual, a soft, affectionate smile tugging at his lips. He opened his mouth to say something, but before he could speak, they heard footsteps approaching.
It was Queen Jeon, Jungkook's mother, her face set in a stern expression. Jungkook immediately sat up, a nervous look crossing his face. Taehyung, noticing the sudden tension, followed suit, bowing respectfully.
"Jungkook," the Queen called out, her voice carrying an edge of frustration. "I've been hearing some strange things about you lately."
Jungkook's eyes widened, his heart pounding in his chest. He had hoped his secret practice had gone unnoticed, but it seemed that his mother had found out.
Queen Jeon stopped in front of him, her gaze sharp. "Why have you been practicing to be a special male?" she asked, her tone a mixture of anger and concern. "You are a prince of Jeon. Your duty is to be strong, to lead. Why are you wasting time learning something that does not concern you?"
Jungkook's face flushed with embarrassment. He had always been curious about being a special male, like his older brother-in-law Seokjin, who could give birth. But he had kept it a secret, fearing his parents wouldn't understand. Now, standing in front of his mother, he felt exposed, vulnerable.
"I just... wanted to know more," Jungkook mumbled, looking down at his feet. "Hyung can do it... I thought maybe I could too."
Queen Jeon's eyes softened slightly at the mention of Seokjin, but she remained firm. "Your brother-in-law's path is different from yours. You have responsibilities, Jungkook. You cannot afford to be distracted !! You are going to rule beside your brother Prince Namjoon as a crown prince."
Before Jungkook could respond, Taehyung stepped forward, his voice calm and steady. "Your Majesty," he began, bowing his head respectfully, "with all due respect, Jungkook's curiosity is not a distraction. In fact, I believe it shows his strength. He wants to understand all parts of himself, just as any great leader should."
The Queen turned her gaze to Taehyung, surprised by his words. Taehyung continued, his voice gentle but confident. "Jungkook has been training hard, and he has shown incredible progress. If he wishes to learn more about being a special male, I believe it's important to allow him the space to explore that. It doesn't take away from his duty as a prince. It only makes him more complete."
For a moment, there was silence. Jungkook looked up at Taehyung, his heart swelling with gratitude. He hadn't expected Taehyung to defend him like this, but he was deeply touched by his words.
Queen Jeon's expression softened as she looked between the two boys. Finally, she sighed, her sternness melting away. "Taehyung," she said, her voice less sharp now, "you always were wise beyond your years." She looked at Jungkook with a mixture of love and concern. "Very well. But Jungkook, you must remember your responsibilities. If this... curiosity distracts you from your duty, I will intervene again. Do you understand?"
Jungkook nodded quickly, relief flooding his system. "Yes, Mother. I understand."
Satisfied, Queen Jeon gave a small nod and turned to leave, casting one last glance at her son. "Do not forget who you are, first future crown prince and then a " she said softly before walking away.
As soon as she was out of sight, Jungkook let out a long breath, his shoulders sagging with relief. He turned to Taehyung, his eyes filled with gratitude. "Hyung, you didn't have to do that. Thank you."
Taehyung smiled softly, placing a hand on Jungkook's shoulder. "I wasn't going to let you face that alone. You're not wrong for wanting to explore who you are, Jungkook. It's part of growing up. Don't ever be ashamed of it."
Jungkook's heart raced at Taehyung's words. There was something about the way Taehyung spoke to him-so understanding, so kind-that made him feel safe. "I'll never forget what you did for me," Jungkook whispered, his voice filled with emotion.
Taehyung's smile widened. "You don't have to thank me, Jungkook. That's what friends are for."
But deep down, Jungkook knew that Taehyung was much more than a friend to him. And as they continued their training together, those shared moments-whether in the heat of a sparring session or in the quiet moments after-only strengthened the bond between them. And even though Jungkook still kept his deeper feelings hidden, he knew that one day, he would find the courage to tell Taehyung the truth about how he felt.
Until then, they trained side by side, their connection growing stronger with each passing day.
