Luther was sitting down at the coffee table silently, enjoying his morning tea that his precious Catman had fixed up for him before he had gotten up this morning. He was feeling relatively pleased today, knowing that his drinking a nice hot beverage in the morning was something that humans do. The more the days went by, the more he started to feel that he was getting closer to humanity.

He's been making progress. He has two pets, Nyen and Nyon. His lovely Catman makes him feel more alive in the most effective way. Not every human is lucky to have a pet in their household but it looks like luck is on his side. Not to forget how he has a whole family alongside him. Including Y/n. She has made such a great contribution to the Ivory Household—and she seemed to rub off on Randal too. He's been less rambunctious, started going to sleep at a decent time, and even started presenting himself more appropriately.

She may not be here, but to Randal she is. Despite how foolish it is to Luther, he just goes along with it to make his dearest brother happy.

"Luther."

Luther set down his cup of tea at the sound of his name. He recognized that voice from anywhere. "yes, Randal? Why are you up so early?" Luther questioned his younger brother. When he turned to face Randal, he could sense that something wasn't right with him. Nothing has ever been right with Randal but today was much more visible.

"Something is wrong with Y/n," Randal said.

"What seems to be wrong with her?"

"Ever since the day at the pond, she's been acting strange. At the arcade on Monday, she didn't speak to me hardly. Now, she's not speaking to me at all as if I'm not there. I don't know what's the matter." Randal explained in a wary tone. He spoke his words at a hasty pace. "I need to know what's wrong. She needs my help." This dramatic shift from a source of intensity to a distant, enigmatic presence has left Randal puzzled and unsure of how to engage with the new changes.

"...Did you and Sebastian both try to get her to talk?-"

"This is NOT about Sebastian. This is about me and Y/n." Randal snapped. Luther was taken aback by his younger brother's harsh wording. It wasn't his first rodeo on hearing this tone but again, it seemed more than just anger. "What's going on with Y/n? I know you know so tell me right now." He demanded.

"Randal," Luther replied with a tone of authority. He wasn't about to get upset with Randal for how he was acting, it was bound to happen again. This always happens. "not all things can stay the same. You have to learn how to let go of these things because it'll always be the same outcome." Luther advises.

Randal shook his head slowly, disagreeing with Luther's words. "You don't know her like I do." He sneered. "Everybody I know doesn't understand her. That's why she keeps doing this because you don't care. You don't even talk to her. You nor your Catman speak to her. You make her feel unwelcome. You've been doing this for years on end." Randal is devastated by Y/n's change of character and everyone around him is acting like they don't care. They don't realize how much it hurts Y/n to feel like she doesn't belong somewhere when she does. It's not fair that she has to experience this every single time for so long. Each interaction that Randal has with her feels like a painful reminder of the complicated connection they once had, leaving him with a deep sense of loss and emptiness. "Why can't you accept her? It's not even about you struggling, it's about you not wanting to try. You don't try."

"Randal. Stop this behavior at once. You knew the consequences of what would happen sooner or later and now you're experiencing it. You won't allow it to erase itself from your mind. You're the one that's not trying." Luther said back. There was no heat in his tone as he stared towards Randal with unblinking eyes.

Randal glared at his brother with daggers, gritting his teeth as he balled up his fists. "I hate you."

"Y/n hates you too."

"NO SHE DOESN'T."

Luther let out a sigh of defeat. There was no saving Randal, not this time. He stood up from his chair, not even picking up his cup of half-drunken tea, instead leaving it on the table as he walked passed Randal, heading to his bedroom without a word.

Randal stood there silently, staring off into nothingness. His chest heaved with fury as his nostrils flared. Everyone in this house is nothing but disgusting creatures. They don't care how Y/n feels. They continue to go on about their day without caring about who she is, what she does, or how she acts. All they know is that she is nothing more, nothing less than a shadow.

"Where did I go wrong...?"
