"You got a pen or something to write with? I can't find anything, " Emma asked softly. "Yeah, here." he answered shortly, not even looking at the girl while passing her a pencil. Jack was pushing her away a lot, and he knew it, but if he didn't, things could take a big turn, and he didn't want that to happen.
Did I do something, or why is he ignoring me so much. Emma thought to herself, worried that their friendship would come to an end. She didn't want that, Jack made her feel loved, and she couldn't lose him.
The boy didn't want to lose Emma either. He wanted his feelings to fade away as soon as possible, so things could return to how they were before. After school ended, he just wanted to get to his house, but as he was walking to the bus station, someone caught his eye. It was Emma, sitting on a bench by the sidewalk, reading a book. "Why are you still here? Aren't you cold?" he asked, slowly approaching the girl. She looked up to face him, sligtly smiling. "Oh, I feel fine.. I just wanted to finish this book, and I guess I didn't realise what time it is.. do you want to join me? Maybe we can hang out. I'll be done in a few minutes." she said, hoping for a positive answer, but she knew deep down that she wouldn't get one. Jack's face heated up, and his heart started beating faster just thinking about what could happen. He had to leave. "Yeah, uh, I would love to.. but uhm.." he started, and the girl's smile dropped. "I really have to get home right now... but maybe we can hang out tomorrow?" He said.. -"Yeah sure, that'd be nice." The girl answered with a soft smile and continued reading her book. Jack turned around and left feeling like an idiot. He wanted this to work so much, but it felt like he was just hurting her. Emma watched Jack leave and then turned around, wanting to cry. She rested her head in her hands. Why did she have to care so much. She wanted their old friendship back. She wanted him. She needed him more than she realised.
Once he returned home, he threw his bag on the ground and laid down on his bed, thinking everything through. That was until somebody interrupted him. "What's up with you? Did you get a bad grade today? If yes, I can't relate, I just received a big fat A on my maths exam ha." his younger sister walked into the room, grinning, noticing his bad mood. He didn't answer or showed any interest in whatever she was saying. "You okay?" she asked, getting serious while Jack sat up to speak. "Not quite.. there's this girl-" "A girl?! I'm gonna have to sit down for this." His sister yelled out excited, raising her eyebrows, not believing what he just said. Jack looked at her, irritated, not in the mood of joking around. "Sorry.. uh.. you were saying?" she apologized, hoping he would continue. He nodded; "I like a girl. She's so amazing, and we get along perfectly.." -"So what's the problem?" -"She has a boyfriend." -"Oh.." A hush fell over the room. "Well, how long have you liked her for?" His sister asked, searching for an answer. "Uh, I dunno.. for about.. two months? "Dang! Two months?! That's a big deal for a person like you." she said, shocked. "I know." he affirmed, looking at his feet and fidgeting with his fingers. The girl thought it through before stating; "You should go for it.." -"What?! Are you out of your mind?! She has a boyfriend!!"- "I know!!... but think about it. You've never been in love this deeply before, and there is a really small chance that you will ever feel like that again.." Jack looked up at his sister, pouting his lips, feeling uneasy as she stood up and walked towards the door, but before she left, she reminded him; "Just think about it, she might even like you back." she smiled, closing the door, and the boy laid down on his back, frustrated. He couldn't help but overthink what his sister said all evening.
