A/N:
Who wouldn't want to have a bit of drama? 😉
Jihoon
The resonant sound of the bowling ball crashing into the pins fills the air as I walk down the brightly lit aisle with Samuel. We both carry a few paper bags that swing slightly with each step we take. Samuel, laughing freely beside me, waves his hands animatedly as he recounts the times when Jun would deliberately make bets only to lose them on purpose. A warm smile spreads across my face, my heart swelling with adoration each time I witness Samuel's unrestrained happiness. I silently wish that his smile, so free and full of life, remains unchanged forever, no matter what challenges he may face.
But suddenly I see how quickly his smile drops, his brow pinching over his forehead in concern. I follow his gaze and spot Riha with another girl standing beside Soonyoung and the others, a sight that seems to affect me more than I imagined. Without warning, Samuel quickly grabs my wrist, dragging me towards our section with such immense force that I don't have the time to process what expression to show or even what to think.
"Look who's here," the girl beside Riha whistles, attempting to drape her arm over my shoulder. But Soonyoung, in a quick and decisive motion, pulls me away from her, wrapping his arm around my waist in a protective manner. His face is a mask of indecipherable emotions, his jaw tightly set as he directs a piercing glare at the girl. She reacts quickly, withdrawing her hands and raising them in a mock gesture of surrender, a sly grin spreading across her face as she clearly enjoys the tension she's caused.
"Don't make a scene, Jiyoung!" Riha hisses at the girl, her grip tightening around Jiyoung's shoulder in a futile attempt to control her, but it's clear Jiyoung is not listening, at least not at this moment. With a deliberate roll of her shoulder, she shakes off Riha's hand and leans towards me with a determined look in her eyes."Come on, he's dating the Kwon Soonyoung-we should at least introduce ourselves, don't you think?" Her sickening grin sends a wave of discomfort through me, making my skin crawl. "Lee Jihoon-shi," she adds, her voice dripping with a feigned sweetness that only heightens my unease.
The way Soonyoung's jaw ticks, I become genuinely concerned that he might actually break it. He opens his mouth to spit out some retort, but I swiftly cut him off. "Sounds like you already know me, Jiyoung-shi," I say, mirroring her feigned sweetness while displaying a charming smile-a trick I had picked up from Joshua. For a brief moment, I notice her smile falter, but she quickly recovers. "See! That's what I'm talking about," she sings in a high-pitched voice that is certain to give me a headache. She then dramatically spins on her heels to face Riha, continuing her charade.
"Let's go then," Riha sighs, her voice carrying a weight that makes her words linger in the air. Her expression is inscrutable, a complex tapestry of emotions that I either can't decipher or choose not to delve into. She avoids meeting my eyes, her gaze flitting purposefully to anything and everything but me. Her doughy eyes, now seem dulled and lifeless comparing to the last time I had seen her. I decide it's for the best not to analyze her expression too closely. Meanwhile, Jiyoung remains unfazed by Riha's demeanor, her piercing eyes locked onto mine with an intensity that sends shivers down my spine. A sickening grin spreads across her lips, unyielding and unsettling.
"C'mon, just your name won't do, now will it?" she pouts, nearly making me believe her disappointment is genuine. A small sigh escapes my lips as I reluctantly meet her eyes, glaring slightly under my long lashes. "What else do you want?" I try not to spit out the words as I speak through gritted teeth. Feeling a comforting pressure against my hip, I glance to my side. Soonyoung is standing there, looking at me with those pretty eyes of his, as if I am the only thing in his world. His gaze makes my heart race and in this moment, I crave the assurance of his eyes on me more than ever.
"Just get away from here," Minghao's voice shattered the bubble of my fantasy, echoing with a sharp edge of irritation as his eyes narrowed at Jiyoung."If you're here to flaunt your friend's money," he continued, his gaze drifting momentarily towards Riha before returning to Jiyoung with a mix of disdain and exhaustion, "then fuck off."
Yet, it was clear that this girl was oblivious to the tension she's causing or rather she's at least making it seem that way as without an ounce of shame, she keeps babbling on. "Don't tell me," she gasped dramatically, her hand flying up to cover her mouth as if to emphasize her faux shock, while her wide eyes told a different story. "The Kwon Soonyoung is now dating a lowlife?"
"Zip it up!" Soonyoung growls, his face contorted into an intimidating scowl that sends a jolt of fear through me as my fingers unconsciously tug at the hem of his jacket. "Just because I don't hit girls doesn't mean I won't lose my temper. I've been trying to hold back for a pretty long time. Don't you dare test my patience," he spits out, each word laced with so much venom that I almost don't recognize the Soonyoung I've always known. Despite the fear, I can't help but admit to myself how incredibly attractive he looks when he's angry.
Fuck! Jihoon! Keep your horses down!
As in the que, Riha's grip tightened anxiously around Jiyoung's wrist. Without warning, she yanked her closer, spinning Jiyoung toward her in a swift motion, and then, with a sharp crack, slapped her across the cheek. The sound echoes loudly around the area, causing Samuel to jump in surprise. The commotion draws the attention of many onlookers, all eager to witness the unfolding drama.
On the other hand, Jiyoung looks up at her with eyes brimming with tears, the sting of betrayal evident in every glance she casts. "Enough!" Riha exclaims, her voice fragile and shaking like a leaf caught in an autumn breeze. She continues with quiet determination, "From now on, don't get yourself involved in my affairs." Shame washes over her face, and as she brightens up with fuming anger, she pads away, not before throwing a dirty glare my way. Her departure leaves an air of tension lingering, the unsaid words hanging like storm clouds ready to burst.
Riha clears her throat, breaking the uncomfortable silence settling over the room. She glances at me apologetically before her eyes shift to the possessive grip of Soonyoung's hand around my waist."Soonyoung, can I...," she murmurs, her lip caught between her teeth as she gathers the courage to finally look Soonyoung in the eye. "Can I talk to you for a minute?"
In a flash, Soonyoung's grip loosens around me as he nods to her, guiding her to somewhere else without glancing towards me for once. She mouths a silent apology to me before following him behind, and I am left standing there, feeling as though my entire world is crashing down on me in a single, devastating wave of emotion.
