Once Rai and her mum had arrived at the school gates
Rai started to feel a wave of nervousness and Anxiety wash over her
The school was much larger than she was expecting
she began fiddling with her fingers which was a nervous habit she had developed over the last few years
Her mum noticed and tried to reassure her
Hey, it will be okay I promise It's just like your old school just a little different she said with a comforting smile
Rai looked up at her mum her eyes filled with worry
Rai - Yeah except I have no friends here and no idea about the classes
It's all Kayden's fault that we're even here she whispered under her breath but it was loud enough for her mum to hear
Her mum sighed
Mum - not this again Rai you know it wasn't entirely Kayden's fault Let's not blame your brother for everything
"Rai huffed and crossing her arms
Rai - Well, he's the one who made everyone hate him and got kicked out of his old school for being a shit so Now i have to deal with his consequences she said bitterly
Her mum placed a comforting hand on Rai's shoulder
Mum - your not the only one starting her He's at this school too Rai
Rai - well he should be it's his fault not mine
Her mum shook her head
Mum - okay Rai Let's just go find the principal's office and get you settled in
Rai was now in a bad mood She sloppily got out the car slamming the door behind her in frustration
Her mum just looked at her without saying anything even though the look said it all
As they made their way to the principal's office Rai couldn't help but feel a sense of dread
What if she didn't fit in at this new school?
What if no one wanted to be her friend? The thoughts made her stomach churn with fear
Once they reached the Reception Rai's mum happily exchanged pleasantries with the receptionist before they were directed to take a seat outside of the principal's office
A few minutes later The principal walked out the room she was a kind-looking woman with a warm smile
Welcome to our school Rai I'm Miss Thompson and I'm so glad to have you here she said shaking the redheads hand
Miss Thompson - So Rai We've already prepared your schedule and assigned you a buddy to show you around
Rai - A-A buddy she said stuttering
Miss Thompson - yes her name is Miko she's a lovely girl and all she is going to do is basically show you around the school and help you settle in
Rai nodded feeling a glimmer of hope Maybe this new school wouldn't be so bad after all
