Chapter 7

Later that day after her last lesson
Rai stepped out of the school building and made her way to the practically empty car park

She sat on the steps with her backpack slung over one shoulder and sighed heavily why did she have to have a different dad to her brother it wasn't fair her brothers dad was nice and hers just wanted to be a teenager again

A few minutes later Rai saw her dad's car pull into the parking lot
She stood up and walked over
Her dad rolled down the window and called out to her

"Dad - Rai come on hurry up I've got things to do His tone came across as aggressive
She quickly climbed into the car and buckled her seatbelt knowing that the car ride home would be filled with a awkward silence and nobody would speak

As they drove Rai stared out of the window watching the buildings and trees blur past She could feel her dad's eyes on her but she refused to look at him She knew that tonight would be difficult her dad had only wanted her round because he was going out with his new girlfriend and needed a babysitter

Rai had never met the woman before but she knew that she would be much younger than her dad and she couldn't help but feel a sense of disgust even thinking about it

After what seemed like an eternity they arrived at their destination Rai got out the car as her dad beeped the car horn and a woman in her very early thirties emerged from the house She was wearing a tight revealing dress that left little to the imagination and Rai felt a surge of revulsion at the sight

Her Dad's girlfriend walked over to the car - Bye Rai We'll be back no later than 1 the woman called out as she got into the car and they drove off Rai just shook her head and walked inside

As she made her way into the living room she couldn't help but smile at the two boys ages 7 and 9 playing Xbox and her new little sister who was no older than 6 weeks old lying on a colorful playmat
She reached down and carefully picked up the little bundle of joy cradling her in her arms

She said hello to the boys who briefly waved back then she grabbed her phone and sat on the sofa

Time went pretty quick to be honest she was so engrossed in her phone she hadn't even released the time

She placed her little sister down then made her way to the kitchen to make some dinner

She put a easy meal of chicken nuggets and chips on

Once it was cooked she dished it up and handed both boys a plate before eating her own

After everyone had finished the boys went upstairs and Rai went up with them putting the baby to bed

Once the boys and baby were settled She walked into what was her room it was dusty and dull as she was hardly ever in it
She threw herself on the bed and grabbed her essay that she had to do
As she pulled it out a little note fell out her bag

Rai put everything down then opened the letter

Rai felt herself smile at the note
She quickly grabbed her phone and placed the number in her contacts

She put her phone down then looked at the note again she couldn't stop smiling

calm down Rai nothing is going on shes just being friendly she said to herself

Rai looked up and did a little excited jump before realising what she was doing and throwing her phone
