The Mask of Deception

Lloyd had a bright smile as he opened the door, bickering could be heard which came from the other fellow ninja, the ninja that he calls his family. Before him stands Jay, Nya, Kai, Zane and Cole. After what felt like ages, they all reunited as they went their separate ways to save Ninjago from any more chaos.

All the chatting came to an end when Kai noticed Lloyd walking towards them, "Hey! There he is!" the fire ninja exclaimed, full of delight, "You're late,"

"Kai was late too if it is any consolation." the ice ninja perked, "Thanks for meeting me here!" the green ninja exclaimed, "It's been a while since we've all been under one roof." he was right, but that doesn't mean he was unhappy, he was the opposite.

Nya giggled while Cole nudged Jay in a friendly manner. Lloyd looked confused when he took notice of this, "What?" he asked.

"Are we gonna talk about it?" Jay asked as he looked at both Cole and Nya who had wide smiles splattered on their faces, "Talk about what?" the green ninja continued, obnoxious about what they were talking about. Cole started to speak, "Your voice. It's—"

"Lower." Zane finished, "Sounds like our little ninja is growing up!" Kai smirked and laughed as he rubbed Lloyd's hair, "Leave him alone!" Nya sighed, "Any word from your mother?"

"Not since she went searching for Master Wu," Lloyd stated as he walked forward as his friends moved aside, "I don't know where she is."

"She'll come back Lloyd, so will Master Wu!" Cole stated, trying to cheer his green ninja friend, "Not everyone comes back, Cole." he replied, "But that isn't why I called you here, I called you because of this." Lloyd then showed them a tablet that had Lord Garamdons face printed over it.

"Your father? Lord Garmadon?" Cole questioned, "After poking around, I've learned it's a simple too—"

"The Sons of Garmadon." Zane finished as he placed his hand towards his head, "A mysterious criminal syndicate growing prominence in Ninjago City." Lloyd started to continue, "Seventy-two hours ago, they stole a powerful relic from Cyrus Borg. Some mask—"

"Not some mask!" a random man approached, he was wearing somewhat of a green armour, and darkish grey hair, "The Oni mask. There are only three in existence." "Whoa, I'm confused," Jay spoke slightly shoving Nya and Zane to come forward, "How can there be three masks when you just said it's the only mask?"

"Not only, Jay. Oni!" Nya tried to explain, "The Oni are said to be all-powerful beings. Demon that predate Ninjago." The nindroid explained further. "Each mask embodies one of the three Oni warlords. If all three masks are united, whomever owns them will wield tremendous power." the man elaborated as he stared at an unusual mask that was behind a glass.

"Ninja, this is Mr Hutchins, Master at Arms and Counsel to the royal family." Lloyd introduced them to him, "I've asked him here."

"The royal family?" Kai questioned.

"Apologies if you aren't familiar," Hutchins reacted looking back at them, "They honour their privacy, as they do the safety of Ninjago."

"Let me guess— they have an Oni Mask, too." Cole jumped in as Nya and Jay stared at him as he was behind them, "Two? Now there's two?" Jay polled clearly not understanding what was happening. Nya quickly shut him up by placing a hand over his mouth as she forced a smile towards the Counsel.

"The Emperor will be delivering a public speech tomorrow, and I'm worried the Sons of Garmadon may try to steal the mask. We could use your assistance, that is, if you can keep a low profile." Hutchins said, looking at the ninja with hope.

"We are ninja." Zane spoke as he turned into his human form by pressing onto his chest, "No one will know we are there!"

"Just let us know where and when," Lloyd said as he walked towards Hutchins and bowed down.
