Krishna was lying on the bed with Aavi nestled comfortably in his arms. Aavi's tiny fingers clung to Krishna's shirt as if it was his most precious possession.
Though Aavi was awake, he seemed perfectly at ease with his dada, his wide eyes full of curiosity and affection.
Krishna's gaze shifted to me, his expression softening into a gentle smile. The moment felt so peaceful, so right, like everything had fallen into place.
"Mama," Aavi called out in his sweet, small voice, his smile growing wider as he reached out a hand toward me.
I walked over to them, my heart brimming with warmth. Bending down, I kissed Aavi's forehead, then Krishna's.
"How did I get so lucky?" I whispered, feeling the love between us all like a warm, comforting blanket.
Krishna chuckled softly, his eyes shining with the same love I felt. "I think we're the lucky ones."
I smiled, sitting down beside them, and gently stroked Aavi's hair. Our little family, so full of love, was everything I had ever dreamed of and more.
I sat beside them, soaking in the serene moment, feeling the warmth of their presence. Aavi, still reaching for me, wrapped his tiny hand around my finger, his grip both gentle and firm, as if he never wanted to let go. I leaned down, pressing another kiss to his soft cheek, his sweet baby scent filling my senses.
Krishna shifted slightly, making space for me to join them. I settled in, resting my head against his shoulder, and together we watched as Aavi's eyes grew heavier with sleep. The peaceful rhythm of Krishna's breathing, the steady rise and fall of his chest, seemed to lull Aavi into a deeper slumber.
As I lay there, the weight of the world melted away. All that mattered was this—being here, surrounded by the people I loved most. I glanced up at Krishna, who was already looking at me, his eyes filled with a tenderness that made my heart flutter.
"Our little Aavi is growing up so fast," he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. "I don't want to miss a single moment."
I nodded, understanding exactly what he meant. "Neither do I," I replied softly. "Every moment with him, with you, feels like a gift."
Krishna smiled, a mix of love and contentment in his eyes. He gently brushed a stray lock of hair from my face, his touch sending a shiver of warmth down my spine. "We're building something beautiful here, aren't we?"
"We are," I whispered, my voice catching in my throat. "Something truly beautiful."
For a while, we lay there in silence, simply enjoying the closeness, the love that bound us together. The world outside could wait. Right now, all that mattered was this—our little family, safe and warm, wrapped in the embrace of a love that felt eternal.
