The brothers return home and hang up their hats and take off their gloves. They walk into the kitchen to see their whole family greet them. They greet them back as they take their seats at the table.

Their uncle Tony chuckled. "It's the Super Mario Brothers, from the TV!"

"They give an Oscar for worst actors," Uncle Arthur asked.

He laughed at them before their Aunt Marie smacked him upside the head, confusing him as he didn't know what he did deserve that.

Mario chuckled as Luigi grabbed the salad bowl to serve himself some food.

"So everybody saw the commercial then," Mario asked.

"Uh-huh. We seen it," Uncle Tony said as he took the salad bowl from Luigi and served himself before putting it to the side.

"And," Mario asked.

"I wouldn't quit your day job," Uncle Author said.

"Oops! He already did," Uncle Tony said as he taunted Mario and shook Luigi.

The male relatives laugh as they thought this whole thing was hilarious while Mama Mario was a bit upset at them laughing at her boys.

"Well, I thought it was incredible. It belongs in a movie theater," Mama Mario said.

Papa Pio Mario then serves Mario some pasta.

"Ugh, mushrooms," Mario asked in disgust.

"Everybody loves mushrooms, right," Papa Pio said.

"I like mushrooms. I'll take it." Luigi said, though no one but Mario really heard him.

"Mario, seriously," Uncle Tony said, scooting closer to Mario, making Luigi have to back away from the table. "What were you thinking with that commercial?"

"What? It's supposed to be funny," Mario replied as he picked the mushrooms off his plate and put them on Luigi's.

Uncle Tony returned to his original spot, allowing Luigi to sit back comfortably at the table.

"Can someone pass the bread," Luigi asked but no one heard him.

"Yeah, but what's with the outfits," Uncle Tony asked. "Plumber wearing white gloves?"

The male relatives laugh at them.

"That's right, you gotta have a trademark. Gotta stand out," Mario said.

"Don't listen to them," Mama Mario told her sons as she gave Luigi some food. "The world laughed at da Vinci too."

"I'm not sure they did, Ma," Luigi said.

"Dad, what do you think," Mario asked.

"I think you're nuts. You don't leave a steady job for some crazy dream. And the worst part? You're bringing your brother down with you," Papa Pio said.

"Thanks Dad," Mario said, clearly hurt. He got up from his seat and walked away to his room with his head down. "Thanks for the support."

"What'd I say," Papa Pio asked the family not seeing the what he said to upset his son.

In his room, Mario was playing Kid Icarus on the NES in the dark as he was disheartened. He then died in the game and just stared at the 'I'm finished' screen before putting the controller down and switching the TV to NEWS Channel 4.

"Hey."

Mario looked to the door to see Luigi walking in with a plate of food. It didn't have any mushrooms on it, just like Mario likes it. Though Mario didn't say anything as Luigi took a seat next to him on the bed.

"Ah, you're not bringing me down," Luigi reassured. "You know what? What do they know, huh?"

Luigi nudged his brother, just trying to cheer him up but it wasn't really working.

"Ah, it's not just them. Our whole lives, everyone's telling us we can't do this, we can't do that. I'm just sick and tired of feeling so small," Mario confessed.

The newscaster reports about a significant leak in manholes throughout the Brooklyn streets. Mario raised up the volume as Mayor Pauline reassured that everything was fine and they were close to fixing the problem. But on cue, more water spurted out a manhole behind her, causing some people to panic. Begging for someone to save Brooklyn.

"Save Brooklyn? Luigi, this is our chance. Destiny is calling," Mario stated.

"Destiny Del Vecchio, from high school," Luigi asked.

"What? No! Just come on," Mario said.

He jumped off the bed and dragged Luigi behind him, making him drop the plate of food on the bed as they got dressed in their full uniform. Fully dressed, they grab their toolkit and run off to save Brooklyn.

They arrive at the flood scene to see the city workers struggling. Luigi was having some second thoughts while Mario was determined to stop this nasty leak. He sees a city worker forcefully closing a manhole cover which he managed to do.

For a solid two seconds before the water burst through, causing him to fly back.

"They're not even looking in the right place," Mario said as he grabbed the crowbar. "Come on Lu."

He walks over to another manhole cover and uses the crowbar to remove the cover which causes a little whirlpool.

"You are not seriously thinki--"

Before Luigi could finish his concern comment, Mario jumped into the whirlpool, going down into the sewer. Luigi clearly did not want to do this out of fear and just because it was honestly pretty dumb. But he promised he was gonna do this job with brother.

So swallowing his fear, he took a deep breath and jumped in.

They land in the sewer and walk through the water. Seeing the pressure value was going into the red, it was clear that was their target. The only problem was it was on the other side of a big and wide drop with the only bridge being a pipe.

Luigi was rightfully scared but he followed his brother as they carefully climbed underneath the pipe to get to the pressure value. Mario managed to make it to the vault and tried to spin the wheel but it was too deep in the red. The dial started to spin like crazy, causing the wheel to break off. This then led the pipe they were holding to start breaking, scaring them both as they held onto the pipe for dear life.

The pipe burst causing it to fall and the brother screamed. They crash through a wall, in a rather odd shape, making them groan in pain as they slowly get up.

"I knew saving Brooklyn was a bad idea," Luigi said.

"Come on," Mario said.

He helped Luigi up as he looked down into the tunnel. He starts walking down as he notices something and Luigi picks up their toolkit before following him. Mario was a bit confused and intrigued when he saw a whole room at the end of the tunnel.

"What is this place," Mario asked.

They looked over the railing to see this room was several stories and was covered in pipes. They decide to go down to explore, using some flashlights.

They made it down to the bottom floor where it was rather dark and dirty. Mario looked around as Luigi followed him but stopped when he noticed a big mysterious green pipe.

"Looks like nobody's been down here for years," Mario said.

He heard metal clattering behind him and quickly turned around to see the mysterious green tube but no Luigi. He walks over to the pipe and sees the wretch from their toolkit inside.

"Luigi, are you in there," Mario called out.

He shines his flashlight farther into the tunnel to see it was empty. He cautiously picks up the wrench as he goes a bit further into the tube.

"Luigi?"

The wrench was suddenly pulled out of his hand and into the darkness of the tunnel. He was confused until he felt a strong gust of wind. But instead of pushing him back, it was sucking him in. Suddenly there was a bright blue light coming from the end of the tunnel. He tried to move but the vacuum was too strong and he was suddenly pulled into the bright blue light, blinding him.
