Chapter 11: Racing to the rescue

Bob, Helen, and Lucius stormed onto the bridge, their expressions fierce with determination. Bob wasted no time, shoving the captain aside as if he were nothing more than an inconvenience. A nearby sailor scrambled for the phone, his voice trembling as he called out, "Mayday, mayday! Superheroes have forcibly taken the bridge. Repeat—"

Before the sailor could finish, Bob grabbed him, tossing him aside with equal force. Helen, her focus unwavering, turned the ship's wheel, steering it toward the mainland. As the ship veered, Bob slammed his fist into the steering mechanism, breaking it beyond repair.

Suddenly, the door to the bridge creaked open, and Jack-Jack waddled in, closely followed by Vinson, Dash, and (Y/n).

"Mom, Dad!" Dash shouted, eyes wide with both excitement and worry. "Uncle Lucius?"

Lucius, still under the influence of the mind control, aimed his ice blast at them. But before he could fire, Vinson threw up a force field, protecting them all. Jack-Jack, however, phased right through the force field, floating toward Helen with surprising ease. Using his telekinesis, Jack-Jack gently lifted the hypnotic goggles off his mother's face.

Helen blinked, snapping out of the trance just in time to duck as Lucius tried to grab her. She quickly passed Jack-Jack to Vinson and wrestled with Bob and Lucius, fighting to remove their goggles. With a final twist, she managed to pull them off, freeing them both from Evelyn's control.

Helen stood there, breathing heavily, staring at her children in disbelief. "Kids, what are you...you came for us?"

Vinson, standing protectively with Jack-Jack in his arms, pleaded, "Don't be mad."

Helen's face softened, her eyes filling with pride. "Oh, sweetie, how could I be mad?" She rushed forward, embracing them tightly. "I'm so proud."

Lucius, always quick to break up a tender moment, glanced around. "Not to ruin the family reunion, but where exactly are we? Is this DevTech's ship?"

Helen nodded, her expression turning serious again. "Evelyn Deavor controls the Screenslaver, and until a second ago, us."

Bob looked over at the unconscious crew members, a look of realization dawning on his face. "Uh oh. Did I do that?"

(Y/n) stepped forward, pulling out Helen's red suit from her bag and gesturing to Helen's torn sleeve. "Mrs. Parr, the suit. Try this."

As Helen took the suit, Bob's eyes narrowed at Lucius. "Why are the kids here? I thought you went to the house."

Lucius, looking slightly offended, placed a hand on his chest. "I did go to the house." He turned to the kids with a raised eyebrow. "You didn't escape? How did you not escape?"

Dash grinned sheepishly, while Vinson just shrugged, still holding Jack-Jack tightly.

"Hey! We just saved you!" Vinson and Dash whined in unison.

Bob, still confused, asked, "Escape? Escape from who?"

Before anyone could answer, the door to the bridge burst open, and six brainwashed Supers stormed in.

Lucius pointed toward them. "Those guys!"

Helen clutched Jack-Jack tightly, but the baby began trembling and transforming into his demon form.

"What the—Jack-Jack has powers?" Helen gasped.

"We know! Fight now, talk later!" Bob instructed, just as Brick lunged at him, throwing a punch that sent Bob stumbling backward. Helen swung at Voyd, but the Super quickly conjured portals to block her attacks.
