The atmosphere at DevTech was electric, filled with the buzz of excitement and celebration. The event was in full swing, with guests mingling, music playing, and the joy of victory palpable in the air. The celebration was for Helen, known to the world as Elastigirl, who had successfully captured the Screenslaver, bringing peace back to the city.
"Attention, attention!" Winston Deavor's voice boomed over the crowd, drawing everyone's attention. He stood on the stage, his enthusiasm evident as he addressed the attendees. "I want to thank everyone who came out tonight in support of superheroes and bringing them back into society."
The audience erupted into applause, a wave of approval sweeping through the room.
"You all made it happen," Winston continued, his voice carrying the weight of the moment. "The need for this has been made crystal clear in recent days with bad actors like the self-proclaimed Screenslaver threatening our peace." With a dramatic flair, Winston pulled out Screenslaver's mask, holding it up for everyone to see. "His reign was short, huh? And thanks to this woman, a great Super. You love her. You miss her. Welcome back, Elastigirl!"
A spotlight found Helen in the crowd, and Winston gestured for her to join him on stage. The crowd's applause grew louder as Helen, slightly overwhelmed but proud, made her way to the front.
"I want you to have this," Winston said, handing her the Screenslaver's mask. "A memento."
Helen took the mask, her eyes reflecting a mix of gratitude and caution. "Thanks, Winston, Evelyn, and everyone at DevTech. I am forever in your debt. And thanks to all of you, your pressure changed all the right minds."
Winston beamed and continued, "We've made amazing headway in a very short amount of time, which leads me to an important announcement. Just now, at a worldwide summit, leaders from more than a hundred top countries have agreed to make Superheroes legal again!"
The room exploded with cheers, applause, and shouts of joy. The news was monumental—a victory not just for Helen, but for all superheroes.
"We'll gather superheroes and leaders from all over the planet on our boat, the Everjust, for a televised signing ceremony at sea," Winston announced, his excitement contagious.
Helen smiled at the crowd, feeling a surge of pride and responsibility. "Now, if you'll excuse us, we've got a boat to catch!" she declared, her voice cutting through the noise of the celebration.
As the crowd continued to cheer, Voyd, a young superhero, approached Helen, her expression eager. "Hi, it's me again," Voyd started, her voice slightly nervous but filled with admiration. "Um, there's something that I've always wanted to ask you. How do you balance the superhero stuff with the life stuff?"
Helen listened, but her attention was suddenly drawn to a picture of the Screenslaver displayed on a nearby screen. Her expression shifted, a frown creasing her brow as a nagging feeling took hold.
"Uh-huh, uh-huh, oh! Would you excuse me for a moment?" Helen said, distracted, her mind racing with a growing sense of unease.
Without waiting for a response, Helen left the party and headed straight for the editing suite. Her heart pounded as she sat down at the console, her hands moving quickly as she pulled up the feed from her suit cam—the footage from when she had searched Screenslaver's apartment.
She needed to see it again, to find whatever it was that had triggered this sense of doubt. Something wasn't adding up, and Helen knew she had to figure it out before it was too late.

Vinson trudged into the living room, looking exhausted. "Hey, Vi," Bob greeted, sinking onto the couch.
