The cleaner's cheeks appeared swollen and red immediately Ava delivered a tight slap on it.
"I am sorry, madam. I didn't mean to." The cleaner pleaded.
"How dare you come here and do whatever you like?" Ava asked while her neck's veins stretched out of control.
"My apologies madam," the cleaner begged again.
"How dare you ruin my wedding dress?" Ava roared while the cleaner kept her head bowed.
Ava, alongside her mother, had managed to form a marriage alliance with Gabriel Slade, through his parents.
Julienne walked in giving a sassy smile as usual. She was dressed in a short blue gown laced with a pink ribbon. "What's going on here?"
Ava rushed to her mother giving her a bone-crushing hug. "Mom, this useless lady just ruined my engagement dress."
"That is not a reason to get angry, my darling. It is a joyous occasion," Julienne chimed.
"A joyous occasion? My wedding dress is ruined, Mom. This good-for-nothing just ruined it." Ava complained as she found her way to the bed stand.
She dragged the bedsheet off the bed then she flung the pillow all over the room violently.
So much for a spoiled brat.
"Just calm down, Madam." The cleaner, out of concern, said to Ava.
Instead, "Go tell that to your forefathers," was Ava's reply in return. She nearly scattered her well-decorated hair in the process but Julienne stopped her.
Julienne beckoned to the cleaner to give them some privacy. "What's your problem? Are you trying to stop your wedding or what?" Julienne raised her voice after she slapped Ava who held onto her cheeks.
"Mom, you just slapped me?" Ava stuttered while hot tears streamed down her cheeks.
Ava tried to use the tip of her dress to wipe her tears. She couldn't understand why her mother did what she had just done.
Never in her life had her mother ever raised her hands on her. She had always been the brat of the family despite being the eldest daughter.
"I did not slap you. I just slapped some senses into you. You lack what is called common sense. Do you want to ruin your marriage with Gabriel? You have to calm your anger until you get married to Gabriel to fulfill the next stage of our plan. I know you are marrying Gabriel for love but I need him for his money, power, and influence. I want that family business of theirs." Julienne hinted proudly.
"Mother, you..." Ava tried to talk but she couldn't just find the right words.
"You know why I am doing this. You better behave yourself," Julienne said and placed a hand on Ava's shoulder. "That daughter of a bastard is gone, so brace yourself for the better," Julienne explained.
Never have they experienced so much peace in their life ever since the death of Amanda. They lived in their dreams and secretly achieved all they wanted.
"Get prepared!" Julienne thundered before making a charismatic exit from the room. Ava went on her knees while she enjoyed the company of salty water that blessed her in the early hours of a Thursday morning.
In his bedroom, Gabriel Slade, dashing in his tailored tuxedo, stood in front of the mirror. He reluctantly brushed his dark hair sideways.
He is a male god of beauty with a captivating presence, his facial features created to perfection. His eyes are a deep, piercing blue, with a subtle intensity. He has a straight nose and full lips, and his jawline is strong and defined.
"Cheers to the most eligible bachelor in the city of New York." Damien, Gabriel's childhood friend screamed his lungs out from behind.
Damien crossed his legs over one another with his eyes fixed on his friend. "Must you obey them?" He asked.
Gabriel sighed for a moment before he replied, "They are my parents. I have no choice but to obey them. Whatever they have in mind has to be something good for me. Moreover, you can't..."
Gabriel hesitated to continue because he knew his friend was a parrot. Whatever gets revealed to him will get spilled across the city.
Damien noticed that Gabriel was not going to speak the truth, so he spoke up. "How time flies. Who could believe my best pal is getting married."
Ever since their high school days, Gabriel had always said, "I will get married last." However, the reverse seemed to be the case.
"That's your problem. I am getting married for the better," Gabriel defended himself in his deep manly voice.
"Right, a man needs his Eve," Damien added softly. He glanced at his wristwatch and clapped his hands. "Groom, it's time. Let's go."
Gabriel clenched his fist before he silently walked out of the room and descended the stairs. He dipped his right hand into his pocket as soon as he reached the entrance.
As soon as they stepped out of the mansion, Gabriel's eyes shone under the sun which complemented his fizzled expression. He skipped rapidly towards the Benz parked a few meters away.
As Gabriel and Damien attempted to open the car's door, a black Limousine escorted by different varieties of cars, worth millions of dollars zoomed in commanding power and attention.
Gabriel, confused by how they got into his compound, sneered. He closed the car's door and waited for the people or person to step out of the car.
The cars came to a halt in front of the magnificent mansion. A man cladded in a black suit alighted from the first car, walked to the Limousine, and opened it for his Boss to alight from the car.
A leg stretched out from the car. To everyone's surprise, it was a heel shoe.
The female slowly stretched out her left hand which the bodyguard held strongly as he assisted her out of the car.
The woman was dressed in a long sleeveless red gown which had a slit that exposed her beautiful knees. A silver-colored star design was attached to the dress to compliment it. The woman clutched a silver pulse that radiated under the scorching sun showcasing its beauty.
Gabriel's eyes scanned the woman's unimaginable physique from her toes to her head but the blue hat she wore prevented him from seeing her face.
She removed the hat from her head revealing her gorgeous and admirable face.
A smirk appeared on the woman's lips as she chuckled, she ran her finger slowly across her lips.
"Amanda Romanus," Gabriel whispered as he took a brief breath piecing everything that had happened over the past three months.
Amanda smiled and approached Gabriel who remained where he was. She extended her hand for a handshake which Gabriel failed to reciprocate.
Amanda chuckled sensing his thoughts. "Do I look like a ghost? If not, may I come in, Mr. Slade?"
