"Are you trying to stop me? Didn't you say you will be there for me?" Amanda said as she shook her head. "I always knew humans cannot be trusted."
Gabriel's breathing increased as he tried to talk to Amanda. All he wants is to save Amanda from the impending danger that Ava and her mother might be plotting.
"Amanda... It's not what you're thinking. They might kill you one day just like they did to your mother?" Gabriel asked before he shut his eyes.
Quickly, Amanda assured Gabriel. "I am not my mother. I am Amanda and my goal is revenge. I survived for revenge because I believed the universe had something better in my destiny. If not I would have burned in that fire."
"What does that mean?" Gabriel questioned, obviously oblivious to what she was saying or what she had in mind.
"It means I have prepared for this. Even if it costs me my life, I won't drag you or the Slade family down." Amanda answered truthfully.
She lowered her gaze from his and gently released his grip on her arm before she entered the bedroom.
Amanda stayed in the closet for a while before she came out and settled on the sofa in the room with a frame in her hands.
The frame's a picture of her mother; Mercedes. She picked the picture from her grandfather's house after she woke from the coma.
"Mom, how time flies so fast. It's been over a year since you left me and it feels just like yesterday. How I wish I could join you but it's not yet time. I will put an end to those who killed you before I joined you. Once my revenge is complete, I will kill myself."
Immediately after she finished her statement, Gabriel entered. Amanda reached out to him but he ignored her. She understood he was furious and decided to stay on her own.
With no children in the house and Emily was already with her family, silence rented the air. A needle that fell on the floor could be heard perfectly.
As night fell, Amanda struggled to sleep on the bed while her husband had his bath and left the room with his working gadgets.
Amanda sighed exhaustively before she called Kael and ordered him to carry out some investigations for her.
The next morning, Amanda woke up and yawned before she opened her eyes. Immediately she flipped them open, they descended on her husband who stood before the mirror with his back to her direction.
With her eyes, she scanned his muscled leg till they reached his back where a scorpion tattoo was. She wondered what it meant. She couldn't find one before she hurried out of bed only to bump into her husband. Her legs slipped and she fell backward but Gabriel caught her in no time.
Amanda couldn't help but stare at her sinfully handsome contracted husband's face. His deep blue piercing eyes glowed endlessly before the drops of water in his hair fell on Amanda's eyeballs which nearly ruined the moment after she blinked her eyes.
Infatuated by his good look and her arm wrapped around his neck, Amanda pulled Gabriel's closer almost letting his full pink lips touch her as if they would kiss but he stopped her by placing his index finger between them.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"What you will like," Amanda answered.
Gabriel chuckled before letting out a groan. He released his hands from Amanda's waist and she fell to the floor.
He bent to Amanda's face level and told her, "I believe I have done something you like." That, he said in a surprisingly smooth voice that made Amanda nearly burst out laughing.
Thereafter, Gabriel walked into the closet and Amanda made her way into the bathroom.
Relaxation and peace poured on her as the cold water fell on her skin. She was not having the perfect peace she wanted but she was glad the water became a perfect medium of satisfaction.
Within a short time frame, she was done and out of the bathroom. She walked to the closet and found Gabriel absent. She was quite relaxed.
She wore a professional red gown mixed with blue straps. She turned several times in front of the mirror as she praised herself for the beauty she has.
She opened her makeup kit so she could apply some on her face to compliment her natural beauty but she found a little. She decided to get some on her way to work.
As Amanda arrived at the cosmetics stores, she changed her mind. All she wanted was to see her husband and apologize to him. Immediately she looked into the side mirror, her eyes caught something; Ava's car.
Without thinking, Amanda stepped out of the car in a rush and made her way into the store.
Immediately she entered, all she wanted was to pick up a gift with Ava but she was able to calm herself and greeted her step sister who stood at the counter's table in a mocking manner.
"Miss Ava, you are here too. What a coincidence?"
"Madam, this is the very best of the best of our products here. Would you mind taking a look?" The salesman asked Amanda.
Amanda smirked before she moved to the counter's table and searched through the small box.
"This smells really nice. I like it." Amanda commented.
"Some people just know what suits them. A lady who was once burned in fire needs make-up to suit her burnt skin. How fascinating!" Ava said before she instructed the salesman to bring another set of beautiful jewelry and powders.
"What did you say?" Amanda demanded before she gave Ava a stern look that could make Ava beg for her life to come to an end instantly.
Ava moved backward afterward. "Did I say anything wrong?" Her voice trembled a little, probably because she remembered the slap Amanda gave her the other day.
"I will take all of this perfume home." Ava dictated to the salesman. "Wrap it all up."
"I'm taking it. I will pay a lot more than she can offer you." Amanda said aloud.
"I'll pay double," Ava yelled.
"Triple?" Amanda remarked.
"Quintuple!" Ava said arrogantly.
"Alright, you got it." Amanda accepted but it was not a loss. She wanted Ava to spend a hundred thousand dollars to buy the accessories.
Amanda's eyes shone brightly with, "You will soon go bankrupt."
"What! You did it on purpose." Ava demanded.
Amanda rolled her eyes before she retorted, "Buying something you love is priceless. How could you say so?"
Ava stepped forward and tried to slap Amanda but Amanda was fast enough to grab her arm and pushed her to the floor with a loud thud which made the other customers glued their eyes on them.
Looks like slapping people is in the Romanus' family trait.
"How dare you?" Ava grinned as she tried to get on her feet.
"Looks like the slap didn't hurt enough last time, did it?" Amanda asked, wincing at Ava. "Want to try it again?"
Amanda attempted to slap Ava who closed her eyes but stopped instead and smirked.
"You have not seen the last of me." Ava said before she told the salesman to remove the payment for the goods from her account.
"I hope so." Amanda chirped quietly. "Anyways, this is just the beginning of your miseries."
