Akari's POV:
As soon as we got home after the ceremony we were all tired and just ready for bed. Grady didn't want me alone and I don't think Eda did either. If their facial expressions said anything.
So to help them both, I came up with the idea of a sleepover. They were unsure at first but decided that ultimately it was the best course of action.
And so Grady told me to run upstairs and get ready for bed and then meet them back down in the living room. Reluctantly I agreed and then, as quickly as I could in these silver heels, ran up the stairs to shower and change.
Like seriously who in their right mind decided that girls should walk around on little daggers!
It didn't take me long to get out of the shower and into my panda bear onesie. Walking out of the bathroom I spotted Both mine and Sophie's stuffed friends on the neatly made bed.
Flashes of memories started barbering my mind and making me want to cry and just shut out the world. But I knew I couldn't because both Eda and Grady are waiting on me and need me just as much as I need them.
So I went over and grabbed both stuffed toys and started making my way down. It wasn't long before I made it to the now decked out living room. There were matts where the couches used to be, covered in fluffy blankets and pillows everywhere.
"There she is. Are you all ready for bed?" Grady was the first one to spot me and motion me over to where he is with Eda right next to him. They were both in matching dark gray silk pj's.
"Don't you look configurable? Is there anything else that you need?" This time it was Eda that talked to me. Instead of answering I just walked over to the both of them and leaned into Eda's stomach.
This resulted in a laugh from Grady and a giggle from Eda. "I think it's about time we get some sleep, what do you think you fluffy panda you?" Grady said, trying to get me to at least smile.
I only nodded before being led to the middle of the mat with Eda on my right with Grady behind me.
I don't know if it was the feeling of being safe and in someone's arms that I trust, or exhaustion, but it didn't take long for my body to crash.
Edaline's POV:
"You saw it too, right?" I whispered to my husband as soon as I noticed Akari was asleep.
"Yea.. Yea I did.. She's slowly braking.." "What are we supposed to do? We can't lose another one.. I can't lose another daughter.."
"And you won't. I can't say it's not going to hurt, but hopefully in the foreseeable future, we can all be happy again.. It's not going to be anytime soon, but as long as we have patience with not only ourselves but also our daughter that is still with us, then we can get through this.. I know we can.."
I just nodded, trying to not let the tears fall. It's not the time to fall apart again. My daughter needs me. My sweet Akari needs me to be strong for her. And I refuse to let any more of my kids hurt.
I will never let you hurt like this again.
Third Person:
Little did Edaline know that she wasn't the only one to promise that exact thing, that exact night. Because there were about thirty pulse others that promised the same. Akari will never hurt the same way again.
