“Moreover, he didn’t even go on a rampage. He didn’t try to bite or tear me apart, nor did he inflict pain or harm on me in a frenzy.”

Although he mercilessly crushed the chairs in the chapel, Elysia’s body remained unharmed. He was the first person she encountered who displayed such strong restraint even upon touching her skin.

“Even Celian frequently wounded me… It seems true that beings of superior status possess stronger power and restraint.”

Having spent a long time observing their physiology from behind, Elysia could easily gauge it.

Today, the man even kissed Elysia. It was terrifying, but she didn’t dislike it. Elysia recalled the euphoria when his breath first filled her mouth. As she touched the lips that had touched him with her hand, she murmured absentmindedly, “This is what it felt like.”

It was incredibly warm. And firm.

He seemed like a man who had materialized from a crimson furnace. His warmth still seemed to linger within her flesh like glowing embers. The sensation of skin against skin was oddly pleasant.

Thus, even though she knew it was a question she shouldn’t dare to entertain, Elysia couldn’t help but wonder inwardly, Did that man feel the same way as I did? Did his heart beat like this?

The only way for the two siblings to escape the domination of Baron Sabel was to hide within an immense power that even the Baron couldn’t touch.

The Duke of Lark was the only saving grace who rescued her from this hell. She knew she shouldn’t assume that he harbored feelings beyond curiosity for her. It was foolish for a human like herself to feel excitement for a beast like him. Yet, unknowingly, Elysia’s heart was quietly drifting to a place she couldn’t control.

That’s when it happened. The Baron, who had never once knocked on her door, knocked. Elysia’s body froze momentarily, thinking he had returned so soon from indulging in illegal races at the northern racetrack. But soon, the fact that he wouldn’t return this quickly brushed through her mind.

Elysia glanced hesitantly towards the door.

“I am Malcolm, the Butler of the Duke’s estate. I’ve come to escort Lady Elysia.”

Introducing himself as the Butler of the duke’s estate, Malcolm promptly ushered Elysia and her luggage into the carriage.

Emblazoned with a crimson lion, the carriage of the noble family continued its journey even after entering the innermost region of the Nornja Land, known as the ‘Cliff of Power,’ where the sea came into view. Along the coast, the sound of waves echoed incessantly.

Elysia lowered her head to see outside the carriage window.

But then, Malcolm quickly drew the curtains over the window of the carriage.

When Elysia looked up at him with curiosity, Malcolm explained her curiosity in a brisk tone carried by the chilly wind.

“The master does not prefer areas overlooking cliffs. Whenever passing through here, he always covers the windows with curtains.”

Elysia was puzzled.

“Why would you cover such a magnificent view with curtains?”

The carriage fell into silence at her question.
