"What did he say?" Oscar murmured into Lando's hair, trying to conceal the anger that was flooding his every vein. He knew Verstappen had instigated this, and hell if he would have the last laugh. This was not Max's championship to win, no matter how dirty he chose to play.
"I- I think he knows about us," Lando stammered, "and he- he just said some really shitty things about me that I don't even want to repeat, and I just panicked but it-"
"He can't know about us, there's no possibility," Oscar assured. "The fact that we're being somewhat publicly affectionate with each other means nothing and it's what I told him, sweetheart. And it's okay, you're okay, just breathe for me." He held Lando closer, stroking his back, his heart breaking as the only sound was Lando's muffled sobs.
"Baby, he's got 7 points on you, you are gonna win this next weekend, you're gonna fucking win the championship and that'll shut him up, yeah?" Oscar murmured, knowing he would do everything within his power to ensure that was the truth. "He's being an asshole because he's threatened, there's no other reason because he was nice to you until you started challenging him."
"I guess," Lando mumbled, his voice sounding absolutely defeated and what was Oscar saying in terms of potential murder strategies?
"Lan."
"Oscar."
"What do you need?"
"I need to get out of here," Lando muttered.
"Then let's get out of here," Oscar replied, his voice so soft and caring and Lando was only starting to realize that Max wasn't the only reason he was progressively going insane. The offseason was upcoming, they had one more race week, a few days at the MTC and then Oscar would be returning back home to Australia for a few weeks, and Lando would go... wherever he would go.
"Where are you gonna go for the break?" the Aussie asked Lando as they walked out side by side, the paddock empty much to their relief. All the teams were still packing up and most of the drivers, journalists, and fans were long gone.
"Probably go home for a bit, then to Monaco," Lando shrugged. "You?"
"Back to Australia for about 3 weeks, then... not sure, honestly. But that gives me enough time to figure it out."
"Come to Monaco, you can stay with me," Lando blurted before he could think twice about it. "I mean- That wasn't like- Only if you want to, of course," he stuttered, hoping he hadn't messed things up.
"You'd want to have me?" Oscar knew Lando still refused to admit that maybe they were on good terms, and things still hadn't been completely smoothed out. He still made the odd questionable remark, would get overly competitive at races to the point that he had just ignored Oscar. Only for a few hours, granted, and there was a small part of him that wanted Oscar to get him on his knees but- ehm, yeah, that wasn't a big deal in his eyes.
"Course, Oscar, don't know how I'm gonna last 3 weeks without, you know..."
"Say it, sweetheart," Oscar murmured, unlocking his car and settliing into the driver's seat.
"Without you touching me," Lando barely said, so soft it was borderline a whisper, his cheeks flushing red as he turned to look out the window to hide it.
"You need it it that bad, hm?" Oscar grinned, this was the best part, watching Lando get all flustered as if there was a chance that Oscar wouldn't give him what he knew he wanted. "You're so needy, always begging me for more."
