Time froze.

They pulled apart, Lando wide eyed and Oscar stoic.

"Let's... go back inside," Oscar said softly and yet firmly at the same time, taking Lando's hand and leading him to the stairs that led to the balcony. And Lando could only comply, silently walking hand in hand with the man he had finally confessed his love to.

They were both silent until they were in the haven that was Oscar's hotel room, where they could speak without having to worry about who might hear them.

"Okay," Oscar sighed, "that was.. not ideal."

Lando scoffed. "That's one way to put it, I swear if this ends up on the Internet tomorrow we are so unbelievably fucked-"

He threw himself back onto the mattress dramatically, covering his face with a wayward arm as Oscar watched this whole scene play out with the most unimpressed face Lando had ever seen him make.

"It might be in our best interest to tell the team, Lan. That way, if there's a dumpster fire on the Internet, they will be prepared for it because if we're gonna get fucked over in the real world at least we shouldn't get fucked over by our own team."

"You're hot when you swear, you know that?"

Oscar rolled his eyes affectionately. "You didn't respond to what I said."

"Yeah, okay, tell the team, honestly if they care I'll just switch teams-"

"Lando, what?"

"I mean what? It's gonna get posted, there's nothing we can do, might as well go out in the best way possible."

"You're insufferable, you know that?"

"And yet you love me anyway."

"That I do," Oscar sighed, typing out a message to Zak and Andrea that was a cross between apologetic and unapologetic. Sorry for the mess this would cause McLaren's PR team, but not even a little bit sorry for being madly in love with each other.

There was also the completely delusional part of him that wanted to believe it was merely a coincidence and that the camera hadn't been pointed at them. but really, what else was going on that someone would have taken a photo?

He tossed his phone over for Lando to reread the message and make sure he agreed with the content, and he knew Lando trusted him enough to read it with only one eye open and say it was okay, which was precisely what he did.

"S'fine," he mumbled, tossing the phone back to Oscar, who sent the message off and then promptly switched his phone off.

"Now what?" Oscar asked.

"Now you get your ass over here and we forget the rest of the world exists," Lando grinned, reaching up for where Oscar was currently sat on the edge of the bed, seemingly processing what the hell had just happened.

"You're such a dumbass," Oscar muttered but leaned down to kiss Lando nevertheless. "Why the hell would I go and fall in love with someone so damn stupid?"

"Doesn't that make you just as stupid?" Lando grinned against his lips, pulling him down for another kiss, and then another, and then another until they were tangled up in the sheets, the rest of the world having disappeared.

"Lan, sweetheart, you know I love you but people don't walk around questioning if I have a brain," Oscar murmured. "I can't say the same about you, I mean really, some of the things you say make me question."
