When You Least Expect It

Chapter 12

Lily's pov:-

Mama sat me down when my cries subsided but I wrapped myself around her torso, because I didn't want her to put me down, she chuckled, "You don't want to pick your own dresses and pretty skirts, baby?" Mama asked, I looked up at her and shrugged. "I do. But I also want uppies," I said with a pout.

Mama had a smile as she glanced at Mommy and then back at me, "What if Mommy gave you uppies?" She asked with a smirk towards Mommy. I let go of her torso and wrapped myself around Mommy, "Can I have uppies, Mommy?" I asked her with the biggest puppy eyes, she raised her eyebrows and smiled, "How could I say no to that?" She asked Mama as she put her hands under my armpits and lifted me.

Mama chuckled and rubbed my back, "You can't." I let a happy squeal as I hugged Mommy. "But sweetheart. Mommy can't hold you for long, okay? Just a little." I pulled back with a pout, "I'm sorry, baby. But when Mommy's arms hurt I'll have to put you down." She pouts right back at me.

I pet her cheek and said, "Don't worry, Mommy. I still love you." Both Mommy and Mama looked at me with shocked expressions, and then they both started awing as Mommy hugged me and swung us side to side.

   "Oh, my baby! My sweet little angel! You're the sweetest most precious girl. I love you too, baby girl." She said in a baby voice. I squealed and giggled as Mommy attacked my face with kisses. "Mommy!" Both of them laughed at me trying to avoid her kisses.

The rest of the day in the mall went well. Mama let me pick my own clothes, toys, and coloring books. She also asked if I wanted to play in the playground with the other kids. Of course, I shook my head frantically and clung to both of them.

   We were on our way to get lunch. "What you want for lunch, baby?" Mommy asked, "Can I have a cheeseburger and fries, with coke please?!" I said with a big smile. They awed and nodded, "Of course, baby." Mama said and I jumped up and down in excitement.

Mommy went to buy the food as Mama and I looked for a table to sit on. After we sat, Mama asked, "What are you most excited about of the things we bought today?" I tapped my lips as I thought, "Umm. All!" I said excitedly while bouncing in my seat.

   Mama chuckled, "All? Good answer," She said with a smile. As we sat waiting for Mommy, I told Mama all about the new stuffies I got and what I named them. I also let her name one of them and told her Mommy could name one of them as well. I got four new stuffies, a bear, a dog, a frog, and a bunny.

   Mama named the doggy stuffie and she named her Cici. Mommy will be naming the bear stuffie and I named the froggy stuffie, Ms.Green, and the bunny stuffie, Talia. So it would match Tasha's name and they can be sisters.

   Mommy walked to us with a tray in hand. "Got your food, my ladies." She said when she set the tray down, I adjusted my position, settling onto my knees. "Yayy! cheeseburger." I said bouncing on my knees, "Sit right, baby. You'll hurt yourself." Mama said and I shook my head, "Is okay, Mama. I'm a big girl."

   Mama and Mommy exchanged glances and then they both nodded. Mommy came to sit beside me as Mama had sat opposite me. We eat in silence. After I finished my burger and had only the fries and coke to finish, I start telling Mommy what I told Mama before. She agreed to name the stuffie and I leaned to the side to reach for it.

   As I grabbed the stuffie out of the bag, the chair shifted unexpectedly making me lose my balance and tipped sideways. I let out a loud shriek and closed my eyes. Then suddenly, strong arms wrap around my torso before I hit the floor. I instinctively curled into myself, tucking my knees close to my chest.
