"Your highnesses." Naila greeted us while bowing in acknowledgement.
"Honey, I think I see Jeff over there," Len informed his wife as he pointed at a man in the crowd.
"Excuse us, it was really nice to meet you Carlisiann." Ciara expressed and I gave her a nod before she left.
"Naila, I thought you weren't coming," Kesis confessed while I looked up at Amanté who still hadn't stopped gazing at his ex-lover with deep longing, and his actions only brought irritation to my chest because he was making their past relationship painfully obvious to any eye that was currently watching us.
"Stop staring," I whispered, breaking his trance.
"I wasn't staring." He replied and I gave him a look that showed him I didn't believe the lie that had just escaped his lips to convince my conscious mind.
"I changed my mind, I couldn't miss the opportunity to see my future queen," Naila answered, turning her attention to me.
"Carlisiann, this is Naila, she is a member of our council." Kesis introduced us.
"It's a pleasure, Naila."
"Likewise your grace." She responded while shifting her orbs to Amanté who stiffened immediately, "Amanté it has been a while."
"That's Prince Amanté to you." He corrected her and she only smiled, unfazed by his words.
"Right, my apologies your highness."
"It's fine. Can you both give us a minute? I believe father is requesting our presence mother." Amanté announced and I gave him an assuring nod.
"Of course." I expressed, but before he left he placed a quick kiss on my lips and I forced a smile despite how uncomfortable that action made me.
"He's amazing right?" Naila questioned me as I watched him and Kesis head toward Marin, who had been waving them down.
"He is, I am truly blessed to be able to call him my fiancé." I answered, glancing at him before meeting her eyes.
"You don't have to pretend in front of me, Carlisiann." She declared and my brows furrowed in confusion.
"Excuse me?"
"I know this is just an arrangement and that you both are pretending to love each other,"
"Is that what he told you?" I asked her with an amused expression on my lips that had her going into defence mode.
"Yes, the day you came he asked me to run away with him, but clearly I said no. I'm sure he told you about it." She admitted and I looked at her as if she was crazy.
"No he didn't, and honestly he didn't even mention you, today is the first time I'm even hearing your name."
"Do you expect me to believe you?" She inquired after letting out a light laugh that she probably thought made her appear calm.
"I have no reason to lie, so if this was your attempt in trying to make me feel insecure about my relationship with Amanté which is very authentic by the way, you are failing miserably." I began with a gentle smile that would convince onlookers that we were having a friendly conversation.
"And as a matter of fact, everything you just said to me is making you look insecure. Amanté seems to have forgotten about you the minute you supposedly rejected him, and the ring on my finger should have made that clear." I finished, stepping slightly closer to her and she kept her head up trying not to look intimated, but I knew that she was.
