As they all sat waiting for the next part of the simulation to begin, XingChen got up from his seat and went towards the playpen where Mo XuanYu had already slept off after being tired and A-Qing was on the verge of falling asleep. Xue Yang was making them both comfortable as he cleaned the area off the toys. As XingChen moved towards them, the others also took notice of the kids and realized with a start that they had almost forgotten about them while watching the simulation. They felt guilty of their own negligence. Thus finally concentrating on them.

The juniors were sitting straighter as they were reminded of Xiao XingChen's cold body and Xue Yang's obsession over him and what had led to that scenario in Yi City. They wanted to stop XingChen, but then they would have to tell them about Yi City fiasco if they ask for reasons. Unable to find any alternative, they just stayed on guard as Wei Ying’s shishu approached the future-serial killer.

'Xiao Yang. Hi.' XingChen approached him cautiously. He somewhat knew the future this kid lived through. Approaching him like this, normal people would call it a sure suicide. But then he felt that it was so pathetic to think that a cute kid such as Xue Yang was capable of so many killings. If XingChen could do even a slightest bit on his part so that Xue Yang never followed the same path again, he was determined to do so.

Upon being called, Xue Yang looked at the kind Daozhang in white. They hadn't talked much, but he seemed kind and ethereal like those angels in his Popo's stories from when she was alive. Ever since then, he had waited for an angel to come and rescue him. But up until now, there was no one. So he had completely lost any hope about it.

Suddenly, today, he feels like he got the angel. Yet, he was wary of him. It was like an instinct to him, having been used repeatedly on the streets. It was quite common for him to be called for some errand and not be paid for it, not even a steamed bun or a small sweet candy.

He waited for the kind daozhang to say something, but he didn't say a word. XingChen could see that the child was wary of him. Wei Ying and Meng Yao noticed it, too. It really broke their heart to see him struggling to trust an elder. They wondered, how much must he have suffered through his short life? They could understand it as they had experience of it too.

XingChen- Xiao Yang, I am sorry, it took me so long to come to you. But, are you okay?

Xue Yang looked at him in utter astonishment. And why wouldn't he? After all, it was the first time in his life that someone had said sorry and asked him if he was okay. He didn't want to cry. But tears filled his eyes. He still tried his hardest to control them from falling. He didn't answer, but XingChen panicked, seeing the tears in his eyes. He crouched down and moved closer, 'Hey, hey, hey, kiddo. Don't cry, please. Did I say something wrong? I am sorry.'

He tried approaching Xue Yang, but he flinched away. Looking at the scenario, Wei Ying decided to take it into his hands. He came to them and crouched beside XingChen and whispered in his ears, 'Shishu, don't worry. I have got this.'

Finding another support, XingChen relaxed a bit and let Wei Ying handle it. After all, he was older than himself and had survived on the streets. So he would surely have a better understanding of the kid's mind. But he himself did not move from his place. He did not want Xue Yang to feel that he was abandoned or was used by any means.

Wei Ying looked at the kid for a few minutes without saying anything. Xue Yang was watching him, too. His tears had long since stopped as he was staring into this man's eyes. There was something in those eyes that seemed familiar. But what, he couldn't pinpoint exactly.

Wei Ying saw him squinting his eyes but took no note of it. Rather, he spoke in a very rough voice instead of using softer tones, 'Xue Yang, I know you distrust us. To be honest, there was no such moment that could prove us right, too. But let me tell you something. I know what it feels like to survive alone on the streets. '
