Chapter 8

Sabreen woke up to the sound of her phone buzzing nonstop. She groggily reached for it, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. It was a group chat with her best friends, Ramlah, Ummaimah, and Waleedah.

"Good morning, sleepyhead!" Ramlah's message read. "Today's the day! We're going out, just the four of us."

Sabreen's heart skipped a beat. She had been looking forward to this day all week. The girls had planned a day out, just to relax and have some fun together.

She quickly got dressed and met up with her friends at the designated spot. They hugged each other tightly, excitedly chattering about their plans.

Ramlah, the fashionista, was wearing a stunning outfit, complete with designer shoes and a matching handbag. Ummaimah, the bookworm, had her nose buried in a novel, as usual. Waleedah, the wild child, was bouncing with energy, her bright pink hair standing out in the crowd.

As they set off, Sabreen couldn't help but feel grateful for her friends. They were more than just friends - they were sisters.

The day was filled with laughter, gossip, and adventure. They went shopping, had lunch at a trendy café, and even tried out a new escape room.

Through it all, Sabreen observed her friends' unique personalities shining through. Ramlah's confidence and style inspired her. Ummaimah's intelligence and wit made her laugh. Waleedah's spontaneity and enthusiasm were infectious.

As the sun began to set, they settled down at a cozy rooftop restaurant, watching the stars twinkle to life.

"This has been the best day ever," Sabreen sighed contentedly.

"Definitely needed this," Ramlah agreed. "We should do it again soon."

"Definitely," Ummaimah nodded, already lost in her book again.

Waleedah just grinned mischievously. "I'm always up for an adventure."

Sabreen smiled, feeling grateful for these three amazing women in her life.

As they chatted and laughed, Sabreen couldn't help but notice the way her friends interacted with each other. Ramlah and Ummaimah were teasing each other good-naturedly, while Waleedah was playfully trying on silly hats at a store.

Sabreen felt a sense of belonging, being part of this tight-knit group. They accepted her for who she was, without judgment.

After a fun-filled day of shopping at Jabi Lake Mall, they decided to take a break and grab some refreshments at a nearby café.

Over cups of steaming hot coffee and plates of delicious pastries, they gossiped and giggled, enjoying each other's company.

Waleedah suddenly pulled out her phone and started playing a popular song. "Let's have a dance party!" she exclaimed, getting up from her seat.

Ramlah rolled her eyes good-naturedly. "You're such a goofball, Waleedah."

Ummaimah chuckled. "Just go with it, Ramlah. It's fun!"

Sabreen grinned, getting up to join in. Together, they danced and spun to the music, laughing and having the time of their lives.

As the sun began to set, they decided to cap off the day with a visit to the mosque for Maghrib prayers.

As they prayed together, Sabreen felt a sense of peace and contentment wash over her. She was grateful for these three amazing women in her life, and for the joy and laughter they brought her.

As they left the mosque, Sabreen lagged behind, admiring the beautiful architecture. Suddenly, she collided with a figure standing in the shadows.

Apologizing, Sabreen looked up to meet the gaze of a woman she knew all too well - Bilkisu, Arham's cousin.

Bilkisu's eyes narrowed, her voice dripping with malice. "Well, well, well. Look what we have here. The little Sabreen, all grown up."

Sabreen stood tall, despite the chill running down her spine. "Bilkisu. What are you doing here?"

Bilkisu sneered. "Oh, just waiting for someone. And speaking of which...you're looking quite close to my dear cousin Arham these days."

Sabreen's heart skipped a beat. "What's it to you?"

Bilkisu's smile sent shivers down Sabreen's spine. "Everything. You see, Sabreen, you're just a pawn in my game. And soon, you'll find out what it means to cross me."

With that, Bilkisu turned and disappeared into the night, leaving Sabreen shaken.

Sabreen quickly caught up with her friends, trying to brush off the encounter. But she couldn't shake off the feeling that Bilkisu's words had left her with - a sense of foreboding, a sense of danger lurking in the shadows.
