Chapter 9:
Sabreen's house was filled with the sound of laughter and chatter as her cousins, Aliya and Fatima, played with their little sister, Afrah. Their mother, Sabreen's aunt, Hajiya Nafisa, sat with Sabreen's parents, catching up on old times. The aroma of freshly baked cookies and brewing coffee filled the air, making everyone feel cozy and at home.
After lunch, Sabreen's parents called her aside for a chat. They sat in the living room, surrounded by family photos and warm memories. "Sabreen, beta, you're in your final year of university. Have you thought about what you want to do after graduation?" her mother asked, her eyes filled with concern.
Sabreen hesitated, unsure of how to share her dreams. She didn't want to work a 9-to-5 job like most of her friends. She wanted something more, something that would bring her joy and fulfillment. "I want to start my own business," she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper.
Her parents exchanged a skeptical look. "That's a big responsibility, Sabreen. Are you sure you're ready for it?" her father asked, his brow furrowed with worry.
Sabreen nodded, determination rising within her. "I'll think about it carefully, and make du'a for guidance. I want to be my own boss and create something meaningful."
Just then, the doorbell rang. It was Arham, come to visit Sabreen's parents. He was his usual calm and reserved self, with a gentle smile on his face. Sabreen's parents welcomed him warmly, and he greeted them with a respectful bow.
As they sat down, Sabreen's mother asked Arham about his plans after graduation. Arham replied thoughtfully, "I'll be taking over my father's company soon. I'll be the new CEO, Insha'Allah."
Sabreen's father nodded approvingly. "That's great, Arham. May Allah guide and bless you in your endeavors."
As the afternoon wore on, Sabreen found herself drawn to Arham's calm and thoughtful nature. She felt comfortable around him, like she could be herself without fear of judgment.
As they sipped tea and nibbled on cookies, Sabreen's aunt asked her about her business ideas. Sabreen hesitated, unsure of how to share her dreams. But Arham encouraged her gently, "Tell them, Sabreen. They want to support you."
Sabreen smiled, feeling grateful for Arham's kindness. She began to share her ideas, and her family listened with interest and enthusiasm.
Arham asked thoughtful questions, offering words of encouragement and advice. Sabreen felt like he truly understood her, like he saw the potential in her that she saw in herself.
As the visit came to a close, Sabreen walked Arham out. They stood on the porch, watching the sunset paint the sky with vibrant colors. "Thanks for coming over," Sabreen said, feeling a sense of comfort and ease with Arham.
Arham smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Anytime, Sabreen. May Allah bless and protect you always."
Sabreen felt a warmth spread through her chest at Arham's words. She knew she could count on him, no matter what.
