Iris Potter Watching the Movies {ON HOLD TILL 2027}

The Mirror of Erised

[A door opens and then it closes. On the other side, there is a vast, empty room that has a large mirror in the center known as the Mirror of Erised. Iris appears and walks over to the mirror. In the reflection, she sees two people appear who are Iris' late parents, James and Lily Potter.]

Those who knew them teared up at their reflection.

Iris: Mum? [Lily nods and smiles] Dad? [James nods and smiles. Iris reaches out to touch them but only gets the mirror. Then, her mother puts her hand on her shoulder. She puts her own hand on her own shoulders, as if trying to feel her there.]

Sobs echo through the Hall.

[Back in the boy's dormitory in Gryffindor tower, Aries is seen dashing out and reaching her.]

[Back in the room. Aries appears as if magically and Iris runs to the mirror.]

Iris: Aries? Come on! Come! Come look, it's my parents!
Aries: I only see us. 
Iris: [moves over] Look in properly. Go on, stand there. There. You see them, don't you? That's my dad.
Aries: That's us! Only a bit older though. And- Nevermind[blushes]. I look good. Iris, do you think this mirror shows the future?
"So that's what you saw, huh."
Iris: How can it? Both my parents are dead. [Iris smiles sadly, Aries hugs her.]

Present day Aries also hugs his Iris as she was sad.

[One day, in the Great Hall where most of the students, particularly the Weasleys are eating, Iris sits in front of the fireplace. Ron has been notified of the mirror.]

"Had he been notified of the mirror?"
"Yes."
George: Do you like yours, Ron? [Ron turns to Iris who still sits in front of the fireplace who is very quiet.] Ron?
Ron: I'll be right back. [He leaves the table and comes up to Iris.] Want to play chess?
Iris: No.
"That's a surprise."
[Aries raises his eyebrows from the other side of the room.]
Aries: Wanna go and visit Hagrid?
Iris: No.
"And that too."
Ron: Iris, I know what you're thinking, but don't. There's something not right about that mirror.
People voiced their agreements at that.

[Iris nods and Ron leaves to go back to the table as Iris continues to stare at the fireplace.]

[The next night, Iris and Aries are back in the room where the mirror is, Iris gazing longingly at the reflection where her parents are in and Aries cuddling her. Dumbledore appears far behind them.]

Dumbledore: Back again, Iris, Aries? [They turn around and stands up.] I see that you two, like so many before you have discovered the delights of the Mirror of Erised. I trust by now you realize what it does. Let me give you a clue. The happiest man on earth would look into the mirror and see only himself, exactly as he is.
Iris: Mirror of Erised. Desire. The engraving. 'I show you not your face but your heart's desire'.
"That makes sense."
Dumbledore: [whilst looking at the mirror] Yes. It shows us nothing more or less than the deepest most desperate desires of our hearts. Now you, Iris, who has never known her family, you see them standing beside you. I don't think I need to tell you yours, Aries, you seem to have figured it out. But remember this, Iris. This mirror gives us neither knowledge or truth. Men have wasted away in front of it. Even gone mad. That is why tomorrow it will be moved to a new home. And I must ask you not to go looking for it again. It does not do to dwell on dreams, Iris, and forget to live. [Iris looks back at the mirror, knowing that Dumbledore is right.]"How did he know about that?-"
