"Ivypool, Toadstep. It's time to go to ThunderClan, where all the passion will be. Are you ready?" asked Hawkfrost. "Always," replied Ivypool, and Toadstep nodded vigourously. He seemed so much different from the hurt tom all those moons ago.

"Then come on, what are you waiting for?" meowed Hawkfrost, and he led the way with Ivypool padding alongside him. Toadstep took the rear, his teeth bared as if facing an imaginary enemy. Glancing back, Hawkfrost commented, "You taught him well, Ivypool. Well done in bringing him here." Too full of emotion to speak, Ivypool just wrapped her tail around his bushy one.

Soon, they reached the camp. Toadstep hurled himself inside, though the sounds of battle had faded. Before they entered, Hawkfrost raised his tail to block Ivypool's way.

"You know that we might not be able to see each other again, if any step goes wrong, don't you?" murmured Hawkfrost, his gaze never leaving Ivypool's dark blue ones. "I know," answered Ivypool softly, feeling the warmth of his breath close to her muzzle. And yet she couldn't bear to lose him; their love had swelled since the confession. As if on impulse, the two cats rushed toward each other and pressed their cheeks together, twined around each other.

After what seemed like a lifetime to Ivypool, they finally broke away, and touched noses delicately. Then, Hawkfrost fluffed up his fur to make himself look ragged, and Ivypool straightened. The plan was starting.

"Ivypool, there you are! Toadstep warned us about...oh," Brambleclaw gaped at his half-brother as he padded in after Ivypool, his tail hanging low. "Don't trust Ivypool!" screeched Berrynose. "She killed Whitewing and helped Hawkfrost to almost kill Hazeltail!"

Ivypool pretended to look innocent. "Brambleclaw, Firestar, what Berrynose said is true. But there is a reason beyond it. Brokenstar threatened all the recruits that they would face death if they were to fight for the Clans. Whitewing's murder was ordered by Brokenstar, I'm so sorry!" she pleaded, letting fake tears well up in her eyes.

"That explains it!" Birchfall purred happily from where he was standing in a corner. "I knew you weren't evil, Ivypool," Blossomfall chimed in. Seeing that many cats still looked skeptical, Ivypool rushed to Birchfall and nuzzled him warmly, letting out a fake sob.

At last, ThunderClan seemed to believe her. Brambleclaw turned to Hawkfrost. "And now for you-" the deputy didn't get to finish his sentence before Hawkfrost lunged at him, screeching, "Attack!"

Dark Forest warriors swarmed the clearing. Ivypool turned to Birchfall, all grief and tears gone as she surveyed him with her cold dark blue eyes. Then, she leaped, clawing at her father's throat. His shocked yowl was cut off with a gurgle of blood; the light brown tabby tom fell to the ground, never to wake up.
