"Push, Ivypool. Push!" Leafpool encouraged the queen, but she knew that it was half-hearted. No cat wanted to help the cat who had assisted in the downfall of the Clans, but at the same time, Leafpool was a medicine cat, and had no choice but to do so.
As the sun rose, Leafpool poked her head out and called, "Hawkfrost! You've got two sons and two daughters.Very nice, I guess." With that, the tabby-and-white she-cat headed back to her den, her head drooping.
"Wow," was the only word Hawkfrost could say. He licked his mate enthusiastically and gazed at the four squirming bundles of fur. A tom was black and the other was brown-and-white. As for the she-cats, one was cream-and-ginger and the other was silver. "Let's name them," suggested Ivypool, when Hawkfrost had finished admiring them.
"Okay. Well, I really like Robinkit for the cream-and-ginger she-cat, and...Tadpolekit for the black tom," mewed Hawkfrost, nuzzling each one of them as he spoke. "Perfect. Then the brown-and-white will be Beetlekit and the silver she-kit Moonkit." purred Ivypool.
Hawkfrost felt more contented than ever. "Welcome to the world, Tadpolekit, Beetlekit, Robinkit and Moonkit!" he purred. "Our kits are going to be the best!"
As the two mates stared at each other lovingly, none of them realised that Moonkit had opened her dark blue eyes and was looking at them with a strange expression on her face. Then the she-kit's eyes closed, and everything went back to normal-for now.
