"I need to go by the office before home room. I'll see you guys at lunch?" Kendall asks before walking in the other direction
I watch as she walks cheerfully down the hall and out of our view. Declan looks deep in thought as I look up at him.
"Thinking about what mom said last night?" I ask stopping by my locker
"You don't think it's weird? After everything mom has done, Kendall doesn't seem affected at all" he says looking at me
"I agree but maybe she's just being delusional. Maybe it's her way of coping" I shrug
"It's still weird to me" he says shaking his head
Before I can say anything, Lukas and the dirty blonde from yesterday walk up to us with smiles on their faces.
"Hey dude" Lukas says greeting my brother
"What's up. Peyton you remember my sister?" Declan says giggling
I hit his shoulder trying to get him to stop. I almost get hit and of course, he finds it funny
"Yeah, I'm so sorry about yesterday. I swear I wasn't aiming for you" Peyton says apologizing
"No harm no foul. Nice to meet you but I'm gonna head to class. I'll see you at lunch Declan" I say walking away
I walk away from them not wanting to be in their conversation. I hadn't even made my own friends yet and here I was awkwardly talking to my brother's group of friends. I could only imagine how it was gonna be when I tried making my friends.
"Hi" a girl squeaks out jumping beside me
"Hi" I say slightly in shock
She had came out of nowhere or maybe I just wasn't paying much attention to my surroundings.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. I'm nicole" she says giving me a genuine smile
"Kai" I say returning the smile
"I tried talking to you yesterday but people around here act as if they've never seen a new face before" she chuckles
"Yeah it was an eventful first day to say the least" I tell her
"Other than that, how do you like the school?" She asks
"It's okay so far. I haven't really talked with anyone besides my siblings and you" I say shrugging
"I can understand why" she says watching as everyone stares as we walk by
"I hate being watched" I say shrugging away from the wandering eyes
She throws an arm over me before dragging me to our first class. She takes the seat next to me, as everyone else files in after.
"Can't do much about the stares but at least you won't have to walk alone" she smiles
I give her a grateful smile as Mr. J walks in whistling. He smiles at all of us, taking a seat on the edge of his desk.
