"We don't even know what this stuff is. We don't know who sent it or why it came up here with you. For all we know, it could kill him," Newt said.
"Yeah, how do we know if it's safe?" Eloise questioned, raising an eyebrow.
"Okay, but he's already dying. We have to try. Look at him—how could this possibly make it any worse?" Thomas argued.
Alby began to groan. Eloise knew it wasn't a terrible idea. She trusted the girl, after all. "I trust her. We could give it a shot," she mumbled.
"I'm sorry?" Newt questioned, clearly doubting her sanity.
"Newt."
"Eloise."
"Come on, it's worth a try," Thomas interrupted.
"All right," Newt finally conceded. "Do it." He handed the blue liquid to Thomas.
Eloise started to get nervous. Thomas approached Alby, preparing to inject the liquid into his chest.
"Okay," Thomas said.
Alby suddenly jolted awake, his eyes wide with panic. He grabbed Thomas aggressively, his fingers digging into the fabric of Thomas's shirt. "You shouldn't be here!" he shouted repeatedly, his voice a harsh rasp that echoed with a mix of fear and primal instinct.
Newt rushed in, panic flickering in his eyes. "No!" Alby yelled, attempting to help pull Thomas away. The others quickly gathered around, struggling to hold Alby still.
"Get the syringe!" Thomas shouted urgently, his gaze fixed on Alby's erratic movements. Eloise felt her heart race as she reached for the syringe, her hands shaking. With no time to waste, she injected the blue liquid into Alby's forearm.
"Oh my God..." Eloise said, out of breath.
Everyone fell silent. "Well... that worked," Jeff remarked, his voice breaking the tension. "OK, from now on, someone stays here and watches him around the clock." Newt instructed, a sense of authority returning to him.
"Yeah, good idea," Eloise agreed, nodding. She turned around to see Gally standing in the doorway. "Hey," she said, her voice steady.
They all turned their heads to him as he spoke. "Sundown, Greenie. Time to go." Gally walked out with Thomas.
Eloise glanced down at Alby, who lay still, the dark but bright blue veins standing out against his skin, his breathing shallow. "I hope that makes him better, Teressa," she murmured softly, her concern lingering in the air.

Eloise walked alongside Teresa, feeling a mix of uncertainty and hope. "So, you could stay with me in my hut tonight. And I hope what I did was the right choice," she said, glancing at Teresa.
"Thank you, and I promise he'll be just fine," Teresa reassured her with a smile that sparkled in the fading light.
"But how do you know?" Eloise questioned, her brow furrowed in question.
"I'll sleep on the floor; you can take the bed," Eloise offered, opening the door and gesturing inside.
Teresa smiled back, appreciating the warmth of the offer. "If you'd like, you can look around," she said, stepping further into the room. She walked over to a small shelf lined with various plants. "You like plants?"
"I'm a gardener and a runner, so yeah," Eloise admitted, feeling a bit shy. As the only girl in the Glade working two jobs, she often felt the pressure to prove herself.
