Tyler and Meg were in his truck on their way to the meeting point with Kate and their team. The radio was playing softly as they sat in comfortable silence. Meg then decided to speak up and ask a question been nagging at her since she saw Scott in the car.
"So, any reason why Scott has a hell of a shiner on his face? You wouldn't have anything to do with that, would you Ty?" She asked him with a knowing smile.
Tyler chuckled sheepishly and scratched the back of his head with one hand before he answered her. "I may have overheard Scott saying some bad stuff about you, storm girl. You know me, I'm always gonna have your back, darlin."
She smiled at him warmly, her eyes glittering like sapphires. "My knight in shining armor."
He just smiled back at her lovingly and held her hand tightly and kissed the back of her hand. "Always, darlin."
He pulled into the meeting spot and parked next to Kate's mom's truck. As Meg stepped out of Tyler's truck, she noticed Kate's Mom in the driver's seat.
Meg beamed happily and waved at Kate's mom, Kathy. "Mrs. Carter! It's so good to see you!"
"Hon, how many times have I told ya to call me Kathy? How are you sweetheart?" Kathy smiled as she stepped out of her truck and rushed to give Meg a hug.
"I'm doing good Kathy!" Meg laughed as she pulled away. Tyler stepped out of his truck and helped Kate put the silver iodide into the truck bed.
"So, I see that you and Kate have picked your project back up. I'm proud of you two." Kathy gave her a proud grin.
"Thanks, it's all thanks to Tyler that I started back chasing again." Meg smiled as she watched Tyler help Kate.
Kathy gave her a knowing grin. "I hope he knows what he's getting himself into. But then again, after hearing all about him from you and Kate, I have an idea that he's known from the very beginning. I'm happy for you honey."
"Thanks, Kathy. That means a lot." Meg smiled at her.
"All right, well I've gotta run. Ya'll be safe, you hear me?" Kathy told her and Kate, who walked up to the two, and gave them both a hug. "I love you both. And Meg, you better come visit me before you leave Oklahoma, you hear me?"
