Chapter 20

With the arrival of their Alpha and Lunos, Ryan and Jeremy, the rituals began. The aim is to pay their respects to their deity Moon Goddess and to Nature, which sustains them and whom they consider as their mother. The atmosphere is bright with candle lights and fragrance of sandal wood. The ritual continued for an hour and ended with pack leaders taking a dip in the nearby river, followed by their pack mates. The river was colder than usual and Ryan was shivering a little. "Are you okay?" Jeremy asked Ryan. "I am. The river was colder than usual but there is nothing a warm shower couldn't solve." said Ryan, smiling. "We will have to wait till all the pack members reach their place safely. After that we can go back, ok?" Jeremy said comforting him. "Okay" Ryan replied, nodding. After they made sure that everyone made to their places safely, Ryan and Jeremy went back to their house. The first thing Ryan did was to take a warm shower. He couldn't understand why his body couldn't tolerate temperature changes, even after training for so long. Jeremy and others didn't seem bothered by the cold at all and he felt really ashamed seeing that. He was their leader after all and to think he is weaker than them. 'Guess I have to work harder and strengthen my body and immunity'. With this thought in mind, he came out freshly showered. Jeremy was nowhere to be seen. "Where did he go?" Ryan asked to no one. He dried his hair and dressed up quickly to go downstairs, when he saw Jeremy entering the bedroom, holding a tray. "I bought warm soup for you." He told Ryan. It made Ryan even more embarrassed. "Jeremy why do you think my body couldn't tolerate extreme weathers and temperatures? I have been training for so long and following every diet that is prescribed but today I saw none of you were bothered by the cold other than me." Ryan asked, feeling sad. Jeremy put down the tray and gently led Ryan to bed. He took the soup and started feeding him gently. "It's a normal thing Ryan. You need not worry about it, trust me. I also couldn't bear any extreme weathers or cold at the start, even though I have the superior genes, as they say. Having an Alpha or Beta gene, doesn't spare you from any weakness or vulnerabilities. You have to overcome it one by one through hard work and dedication. It took me ages to face almost anything and to reach where I am now. When compared to that, you are showing massive changes. You may think you have trained long, but the reality is that you are the one person who has the shortest training out of everyone here. For a person with a very short training, you show great potential. With time you will overcome anything." Said Jeremy. Ryan felt immense relief when he heard Jeremy's assurance. "Thank you" he thanked his mate. "You are welcome" said Jeremy, feeding the last spoon of soup to Ryan. "I will go clean this up." Jeremy said taking the tray and the bowl and going downstairs. Ryan nodded with a smile. Watching his retreating back, Ryan once again was reminded how lucky he is to have Jeremy as his mate. 'Me and my overthinking mind' Ryan thought to himself after Jeremy left. "Oh my! I should buy something special for him" Ryan told himself when he was suddenly reminded of their anniversary. "But I don't know what to buy for him" Ryan said again, falling on the bed. He started thinking and searching in the internet, but nothing seems to please him. 'Sheesh! I will just ask Amelia to accompany me to the mall. We will buy something from there. She is good at these things' With that thought in mind Ryan went to brush his teeth. He came out to see Jeremy making bed. "Let's get some sleep. It has been a long day. You must be tired." Jeremy said. "What about you? Aren't you tired?" Ryan asked. "I am. But I have some things to do." He replied. "Let it be. Let's do it tomorrow. For now, let's sleep." Said Ryan holding Jeremy's hand. Jeremy didn't have the heart to object him, so he lied down beside Ryan. "Good night" wished Jeremy. "Good night" Ryan wished back.
