Chapter 21

Ryan's P.O.V

"How is it?" Amelia asked. We have been roaming around the mall for two hours but still couldn't find a perfect gift which I could give him. "Nope" I replied, when she showed me a silver ring with stones embedded on it. "What exactly do you want to buy for him?" Amelia asked putting back the ring. "I don't know, I just thought I would go with my instincts but nothing we picked till now is up to my liking." I told her. "Don't worry we will find something." Amelia said smiling. I just shrugged. We have spent nearly an hour in the clothes section in vain and now it's been one hour in the jewellery section. Time does flies fast when you go for shopping and I just hope that I would find my gift here. I don't want to waste any more time of me and Amelia, especially when she had planned a dinner date with Jace. I had told her that we would buy the gift tomorrow when I came to know of her date, but she insisted on today and scolded me for being so late to buy a gift because it's only three days for our first anniversary. It's a going to be a year with him and time does flies so fast. *Sigh* Just then I felt someone probing my mindlink. "Pup, is the shopping over?" I heard Jeremy's voice in my link "No, it's not. But we will finish it soon and come back." I replied. "No it's okay, take your time. I called you but you didn't pick up the phone, so I linked you to know whether you guys are doing okay." He said. I checked my cell phone to see 3 missed calls from Jeremy. "Sorry, I just missed it amid all the chaos at the mall." I replied in the link. "It's okay, take your time, buy everything you need and comeback safely." He said. "I will." I replied. With that our link was cut. I have told Jeremy that I needed some clothes for me and Amelia is accompanying me. He said to go and enjoy citing that I need some fresh air and asked us to mask our scents to not attract any unnecessary attention, if there happens to be any werewolf nearby. "Found anything?" Amelia asked, coming back. I shook my head no. "Amelia, I think you should go back. It's almost time for your date. I will purchase the gift and go back." I told her. I heard an adamant 'no' from her. "I am staying with you and helping you find the gift. Period!" That ended our discussion. We continued our search through jewellery section and almost reached the end, when I saw something which caught my eye. It was a silver pendant with the locket of a wolf howling at the moon. The design is such that the bigger locket is in the shape of a crescent moon and inside stood the small wolf facing the moon, or shall I say howling at the moon (I hope the readers can see it in their mind's eye). A simple yet elegant design. "It's beautiful! Liked it?" Amelia asked. I nodded my head in affirmative. We packed the necklace in a separate gift box, grabbed my clothes and sneakers and went back to our car. I am thankful that we reached in time and Amelia, still had time to freshen up and get ready for her date. It's not like Jace minded Amelia being a few minutes late, he is head over heels for her, but I would have felt guilty. Right now, I have finished hiding Jeremy's gift in my secret spot and sitting on our bed exhausted when he entered the room. "Hey, how was the shopping?" he asked. "Exhausting" I replied. I heard him chuckle. "Bought everything you needed?" I asked. "Yes. Even if it took so much of our time, I got what I wanted." I replied, smiling. "Did you see any other werewolfs?" he asked. "No" I replied "Are you worried about something?" I asked him, seeing his serious face when he asked that question. "The threat of Julian is still there. I am just worried about you." He told me truthfully. He is worried, yet he still let me go and didn't kept me caged inside the pack house. That's the first thought that came to my mind when I heard his reply. I felt really grateful and happy at that. "Don't worry, I will inform you first wherever I go and will report if I am in any kind of danger. Will you promise the same with me?" I asked, extending my left hand. "I promise" he immediately held my hand and smiled. I slowly leaned my head on Jeremy's shoulder, with our hands intertwined. I am sure that Jeremy is surprised right now, because me initiating any kind of skinship is very rare. He leaned his head on my head too. We sat like that for some minutes until Jeremy decided it was time for him to go back to his duties. "I will come" I told him. I have been slacking off my duties for a few days and being a leader of the pack along with him, I shouldn't be doing it. "Pup, It's okay, it was a long day for you. You should take rest today and come to work tomorrow." Jeremy said. "No Jeremy, I have slacked off for a few days and it's not good to make it a habit. So I am going with you." I said, linking our hands again. Jeremy glanced at our linked hands and replied with a smile "As you wish". With that we went to do our respective duties.
