Chapter 16

Ryan's P.O.V

When Jeremy told me Julian was here with a couple of rogues, my heart skipped a beat. I scolded myself for being so scared of him. It's not like he could harm me. I know with Jeremy and Jace and other pack members around he will not lay a finger on me. I laughed at the irony of the situation. Usually it is the leader of the pack who protects others but for me it's the others who protect me. But I am determined to train myself hard and become capable of protecting myself and the pack. But now, I have to face my fear and just get over with this talk with my ex-mate. "Hey what are you thinking so deeply about?"Jeremy asked me, nudging gently. We are still in bed, but we have to get up soon. "Just thinking about how to get over this talk and go to my training." I said. "It's okay, we will get through this together." Jeremy assured me. "Jeremy, I am so scared of him, it's the truth. But at the same time, I wanted to deal with this person and my fears on my own."I told him. "I am not leaving you alone with him." Jeremy said sharply. "I am not asking you to." I said. "You should stay by my side but let me talk to him." I must have looked so determined that Jeremy finally nodded his head. "Let's give him a good lesson." Jeremy said, smiling evilly. Gosh! This Alpha of mine can be so threatening sometimes. "Don't harm him inside our boundaries, we don't need a war." I told him. "I won't love. I am trusting you to handle this. I will stay by your side."  With that we end our conversation and went to get ready. Julian was waiting there in the office along with his 'so-called allies'. Chills went down my spine when he smirked at me. Even after so many years, he still can inflict fear in me but that is not going to stand in my way here. I gathered all of my courage and kept my face calm. "Greetings Julian, what brought you here early this morning?" Jeremy asked sitting down in front of him. I sat to his right and Jace stood behind us. "Good morning Jeremy, I see you are in a rush. We saw after a long time and you didn't even ask about my well-being." Julian said smiling widely. That smile, which will dazzle anybody who doesn't know his true colours. But Jeremy didn't return his smile, instead said calmly "I didn't see any need for me to ask about your health or well-being.  I do it my good friends; you never were one. Now if you could state your purpose as to why you are, I will look into it. I have so many other things to attend to after this." I liked that Jeremy doesn't beat around the bush. To people like Julian, this the exact kind of behaviour one must show. "You know why I am here very well Alpha." he said looking to me "But still, I will tell you, I am here to take what is rightfully mine." "There is no thing of you here Julian." Jeremy replied firmly. "Oh yes there is, this little wolfy sitting right next to you, belongs to me." Julian told him gritting his teeth. "He is my mate and he belongs to no one but himself. I will not tolerate anybody disrespecting my mate and talking about him as if he is a toy." Jeremy voice is slowly becoming threatening. "Gosh! You are such a slut. First you slept with me, then you went after another five and now you are with him. Just how many more do you have  in your pockets." Julian asked me snickering. I can see Jeremy about to explode but I held him. "Let me deal with this" I mind-linked him. Jeremy nodded. "You and everyone here know very well who went after whom, so your lies and accusations won't work here anymore Julian, nor would it affect me. So tell whatever you want but your efforts to defame me will be futile because everybody trusts me more than you.I had enough of you when I broke my bond with you. I had enough of you breaking my heart over and over again. And I won't put up with you trying to ruin me when I started a new life here with my mate happily. You were so wrong to assume that you could come here and stake claim and I will follow you cowering. You never loved me and you never will, so sorry to break your bubble, your wish will never be fulfilled. I am not some kind of puppet you could play with. Just like my mate said I am my own person with my own emotions and feelings, so back off." I never thought I would say this to Julian but once I decided to confront my fears, I feel me becoming more courageous. As soon as all these words were out of my mouth, Julian stood up from his seat angrily "How dare you say those words you filthy little omega!!" He curled his fists, ready to throw a punch but it never reached me. I saw Jeremy on my side blocking his punch. His hold on him was so tight that I could feel Julian wincing. "One more word of disrespect to my mate, I will throw you into the dungeons. I have been civil to you because you shared a past with my mate and he wanted to deal with you on his own. But you have proved time and again that you are the biggest asshole in the entire werewolf community. If you don't want to leave in broken parts, just leave with your friends right now!!" Julian, left the room, or should I say pushed out, by a not so friendly Jace. Jeremy stood there with a stony face till they left the room. But before leaving, Julian turned to look at me, a look that gave me chills. Something about his look told me that it is not going to be over that soon. Jeremy might have sensed my distress for he came to me and hugged. His hugs always calmed me down and comforted me. "You did a great job there." He said kissing my forehead and smiling down at me. I gave him a small smile. "Pup, don't think too much, the crisis is averted for now. He won't be troubling us anytime soon. Trust me. Jace and me have take every precaution for that." I nodded. It's not that I don't trust him, but this funny feeling just won't go away. "I trust you Jeremy. It's just that this funny feeling won't go away and I am completely exhausted." I told him. "There is no need to worry, nothing he does will affect me, you or the pack. I had made sure of that." I nodded again. "Come let's have lunch. After that you have to go train." He laughed when he saw a little pout on my face. No need to blame me, I thought he would cut me some slack. "I can't compromise when it comes to your training pup." I pouted more. "If you keep on pouting I will kiss you and I won't hold back this time." Instantly my whole face turned red and the culprit there is laughing at my expense. "Ok...I won't tease you any more, let's go have lunch." he said, holding my hand. "Hmm" I hummed not being able to utter a word. Jeremy's boldness catches me off guard every single time. With a slight peck on my cheek, I was ushered into the dining hall by my most handsome, courageous, kind and naughty mate. Oh boy! I am falling in love with this man every day and I don't regret it a bit.
