Chapter 10

Jeremy's P.O.V

I know Ryan is a smart and kind person. I have sensed it from beginning, even though Ryan will not acknowledge it. It hurts me whenever he puts himself down. Why does he have low self-esteem and how could I boost his confidence? All I can guess is that it has something to do with his past. I have promised Ryan that I will wait and will be good listener to him whenever he is ready to tell me everything. So I have nothing else to do other than to wait patiently. Right now I am looking at my boy, who is sitting in our bed room engrossed in reading a book. I looked closely and found the title to be "Angels & Demons." "Is it interesting?" I asked sitting beside him. He no longer tenses when I am in his close proximity. "Mm" he nodded. "Till now, it's okay." he replied. I nodded. "Are you okay?" he asked out of the blue. I looked at him confused. "I mean, you looked a little tensed during lunch. You were frowning most of the time and you didn't even come for dinner. I sensed something is bothering you. Is it okay if I ask you what it is?" he asked me. Well, with the smartness and emotional intelligence he has, it should not be surprising when Ryan turns out to be a very observant person. Instead I feel touched when he asked me about my well-being. "The same old problems, rogues breaching our pack territory. Except for a few, all others are not harmful." I told him. "What are you planning to do with them?" he asked. I loved the fact that he is opening up to me little by little, everyday. "I can't decide alone. I have to ask my Lunos' opinion too." I said looking directly into his eyes. "What do you suggest Ryan?" I asked. "Can you not punish the unharmful rogues?" he asked me. "Do you want me to." I asked. He nodded his head. "OK then, I will ask them if they are willing to join our pack. Let's see what their responses are." I said. I saw a small smile forming on his lips. "What about the problematic ones?" I asked. Ryan avoided my eyes and replied softly "I don't know." That's one area where Ryan is at a disadvantage. He cannot be harsh on anyone. He knows I have to be harsh on these rogues but he finds it hard to imagine it. But with time, when he works alongside me, after he is officially sworn in as my mate, he will learn when or in what situation one should be harsh. I am not saying I want him to be a heartless and cold leader. Absolutely not!!. I want him to know when he should be good and when he should be harsh. Right now, I hate pressuring him, so I changed the subject. "What's for dinner?" As soon as that question left my mouth, Ryan literally dragged me to the dining hall. He served me a plate of pasta with bacon and peas. Then I saw him serving himself a plate. "You are having your dinner now?" I asked. "I was waiting for you." he replied softly. My heart instantly melted at that, but I cannot let him miss his regular dinner time with his pack mates. "As much as I love having dinner with you, you cannot be this late pup, it's not good for you." I scolded him lightly. "But your health is important too" he replied. Well he has a point!. "OK then I will try not to miss my dinner and eat it at it's time." I yielded to him. "But if in case I am late, will you promise me that you will eat on time and not wait for me on empty stomach." I asked. He looked hesitant. "I won't skip my dinner." I added. "OK, I promise, but I will make sure you are eating properly, even if it meant I have to stay late." he promised. "Okay" I sighed, at least he won't sit on an empty stomach. We ate in comfortable silence. After dinner, we went upstairs into our bedroom. "Jeremy" Ryan called. "Yes" I looked over at him. "Thank you for everything, for being patient, for being kind and caring towards me, for not forcing me to do anything which is uncomfortable, for scolding me softly and for being my safe place. I am so sorry for always being at the receiving end but please bear with me till I return your feelings in the same way as you do. I will surely do because I really like you." Ryan said. "Why so sudden?" I asked. It's not that I am not happy when Ryan opened up about his feelings towards me, especially when he said he liked me, but this confession is out of blue. "I have been thinking about all this for three days, it's only now that I got the courage to tell you." He said shyly. So that's why he has been all tensed while coming upstairs. "You are so cute!" I pinched his cheeks. He smiled beautifully. I don't know how but words of endearment comes automatically to me when he is near me. "You know how I feel towards you right?" I asked him. "I know." he whispered softly. I can't help but grin widely to the point I doubted whether it will split my cheeks. Damn! I love this boy so much!!
