New....

We've finally arrived at my new home. It feels like I'm warming up to mom after she opened up to me. It doesn't change the years of abandonment but dad would have wanted me to try. I could tell he really loved her.

While sitting in the car she said she has to ask me something.

"So here's the thing, Brian's daughter and our son don't know about you and that I have had any children prior to Lucas, so I said you were my niece. He feels it's the best option to protect his business image. It's nothing personal"

"Wow. It's nothing personal. Right. Cause you're not that one that was abandoned for 17 years and has to be a secret child"

"Honey. We'll come clean to them eventually. But it's a big shock just to dump it on them. Imagine saying, 'So children. I have a daughter the same age as Mia and oh Lucas you have an older sister and no I'm not talking about Mia'. It just wouldn't be fair on them. They need to get used to you first".

"Fair". I grunt. "I've always hated that word. The only thing that's not fair, is my entire childhood, my dad dying. This entire situation. But you know what 'Aunty', one of the days I'm 18. Then I'm  out of hair and you can continue to play happy ever after with your perfect family".

I opened the door and shut it, waiting for her to get out. She opened the trunk from the car and I started taking out my things.

She got out.

"I'll make sure you get everything you need. Alright". She said thinking it would make me feel better.

"What I want.... What I want, money can't buy" I say shutting the trunk.

She takes my suitcase and walks ahead of me.
Upon opening the door, I see a maid is busy cleaning and Mom introduces me to her.

"Hi Angela. This is Isabella. My brother's daughter. The one that passed on" she says the last part and I get shivers down my spine.

"Hi Isabella. Nice to meet you. Sorry to hear about your father" she says in a kind and sympathetic manner.

"Thank you. It's nice meeting you too" I say back kindly to her.

Angela gave me such a motherly vibe.

"I want to show her, her room" mom says to Angela.

Angela gestures a nod.

We go up the stairs. I must admit the house looks like it comes straight out of a magazine.
We enter the room.

"I wasn't sure of your taste, but you're more than welcome to decorate it as you want.

I look around.

I'll ask Oliver to bring up the rest of your things" she says while walking towards the door.

She stands still at the door.

"I'm looking forward to getting to know you. Maybe you could get to know me too", she says.

I roll my eyes.

"We'll see how it goes" I answer back in a sarcastic way.

I start unpacking my things, to settle in this new environment. How I'm going to fit in here? God knows but dad taught me, 'Don't wait on a man to make things happen for, the world gives you everything you need. You just gotta make it work for you'. My father was a very wise man and I'll treasure the things he taught me and lessons learnt.

Soon my brother and step sis will be arriving. That ought to be interesting.
