Vince sighed as they walked out the café and headed for their car. They'd just lost a witness who could have given them the strangler's identity.
He wasn't paying attention, so he was surprised when Gray pulled him back as an explosion shook the ground. He hit the ground with a thud and groaned at the pain.
He tried sitting up but a sharp pain cut through his back. He lay back down and took deep breaths.
"Get up. We have to go." Gray said pulling him up. He saw parts of their car as he leaned on his partner for support.
Vince knew they couldn't stay at the scene and let people know he's hurt. They may be pulled out of the case. Then he'll have more shitty jobs because of the injuries.
They got a cab back to the hotel. They made it to his room without any trouble. He fell on his bed exhausted. He closed his eyes ready for sleep to take over.
"don't go to sleep yet. You might have a concussion." Gray shook him awake. He was annoyed but he knew he was right. He grudgingly opened his eyes.
Gray helped him remove his t-shirt. He cut it off since he couldn't lift his arms. He lay on his stomach as Gray tended to his wounds. He could feel the soothing touch moving up and down his back.
A piercing pain cut through him as pressure was applied to his side. He clenched his jaw, bitting his tongue to keep from crying out. But the pain was too much that he passed out.
