Gray had moved his things to Vince's room as he slept. It was best he stays there in case of anything. Thank God there was a second bunk. He wouldn't have survived the floor or the couch.

He took a sip of the coffee he'd ordered from room service. They were almost killed today. But his guess is that it had only been a warning. But they hadn't gotten any solid leads. At least after Jenn's murder. Darn! That had been a major setback.

He heard Vince groan and knew he was waking up. He had covered him in bandages but it's going to take a few days to heal. He had to stay out of site for a while. The cuts weren't deep. He may have just a few bruises. The most pain he'd had yesterday was the sprain in his back.

I grinned at him. "Morning sleepy head?" he just grunted in response and tried to sit up.

"Don't stress yourself big guy. Just relax." Gray moved closer to the bed to make sure he was okay. He hadn't really studied his partner. Under all the suits he had a really fit physique. He was hot in a stuffed shirt, stick-up-his-ass kind of way.

"So, why are you always stuck up?"

"Maybe I just love my job and I take it more serious than the rest of you."

"Yeah right," he snickers at the lie,  "let me guess... a woman."

It was silent for a while before Vince spoke. "My ex-fiance'. Alice and I were high school sweethearts. I proposed to her during our second year in college and she said yes. It was the happiest day of my life.

I called up my best bud and we went out for drinks to celebrate. A week later we visited our parents to tell them the news and they were ecstatic. They always knew we'd end up together.

Weeks past and the wedding date was set and preparations began. We were even living together already. One day something came up back home. I had to take about a week, but I came back early. I wanted to surprise her. I bought a bottle of wine and chocolate and of course roses. She loved red roses.

It was late at night and I knew she'd be in bed so that's where I went. When I reached our bedroom door I heard noises from the inside. I can still feel how my heart broke into pieces at what I saw. My fiancé was in bed with another man. My best friend. In my bed.

After that everything was cancelled and she moved out. I haven't spoken to her or Kevin since then. Since then it's been hard for me to trust anyone. Those two were one of the people I trusted most and they betrayed me. You know they had been having an affair the same amount of time we had been together . I asked her why she agreed to marry me. Do you know what she said, that since my father was rich and I was his heir. We would be rich and she wouldn't have to worry about money. She never loved me. She loved my money."

Gray watched as his eyes closed in sleep. But Vince could still feel his stare. "What?" "are you still in pain?"

"no. I'm fine."

".... "

" you're still staring." Vince mumbled.

"just checking if you're still breathing and not dead." Vince chuckled but his voice muffled by the pillow. "would you miss me?" he asked in a soft tone.

"sure big guy," he answered in the same tone patting his head to humour him. Vince drifted to sleep. The annoying thing is that he would really miss the guy. He had grown on him. "Damn it"
