"I'm worried about Mirei." Nemuri said into her phone.
"Relax! She's a good kid! Plus, you know how teenagers are. She'll come to you when she's ready!"
"Emi, she's fifteen. She's never met anyone like her, and finally, after years of wondering if there are other people like her in the world, she meets one, and is attacked. She's barely spoken to me in all this time! I'm worried that she's gonna shut me out...." Nemuri said.
Emi sighed, before responding "Look, if you want, I can look into our mystery siren."
Nemuri thanked the other woman, before hanging up.
*Where Mirei is....*
"Did I ever mention I hate training with Mirei?" Hitoshi whispered to Tenya.
"A few dozen times, yes." Tenya retorted.
Why did they go back to the USJ? Why did Mirei have to be playing the villain? Why did she have to leave her speakers lying around?
"Spinning all your silk and moving all of your eight legs to build a web, that'll spread through the world...." Mirei sang through her speakers, her voice echoing around them, making the boys freeze.
"I hate when she uses the Melanie Martinez songs." Tenya grumbled, looking around for any sign of her.
Suddenly, everything went quiet. Eerily quiet.
".... Hello?" Hitoshi called out.
The two didn't even notice Mirei until she caught them in a jump scare, both of the boys screaming bloody murder.
.
Orca stood on a rooftop, quietly watching Mirei from a distance. Honestly, she wondered why she even bothered. It's not as if the kid was in any sort of trouble.... But, it was his orders. Especially if everything was true, and it really was her. She supposes that the extra pay might've been worth it.
"Hey!"
Orca blinked, doing everything in her power not to jump at the hero that was behind her.
Circe stood there, grinning, saying "You do know how creepy this looks, right? A very weird looking woman, watching a bunch of teenagers from a distance?"
Orca blinked, staring at her. How had the hero even snuck up on her without her noticing?
".... I see that." Orca slowly responded, adjusting her mask. "However, I can assure you, I am only providing protection."
"Uh huh. Sure. Mind if I see some I.D.?"
Okay, now she was worried.
"I can't do that." Orca responded. "My orders were to stay anonymous, and-"
"Oh! That's where I remember you!" Circe suddenly said. "You're that siren everyone's been on about! The one that hurt Hitoshi!"
"Who is-"
Circe's quirk flared, the eyes all over her body opening and glowing purple as they met hers. Orca felt her body tense up, and her mind went completely foggy, as if it was full of cotton, everything going blank.
.... Meanwhile, Circe was slightly freaked out.
"Oh, man." She mumbled, keeping her eyes on her as she took out her phone. As soon as the number was called, she said "Hey, Aizawa? No, it's not about.... Well, it's a little about Hitoshi. You remember that siren lady that attacked the boys and Mirei? Yeah, uh.... She's here. Like, I have her restrained on a rooftop with my quirk, but she's fighting it. I kinda gotta keep eye contact with her. Yes, I would very much like help."
As soon as she hung up, it was all too quiet. She sighed, her thoughts a mix of everyone giving different statements.
'You realize how this sounds, right?' Azumi said in her thoughts, appearing to be amused at everything.
Misaki groaned, saying 'We know, but what else are we doing? We can't just leave her here! Plus, that'd be rude!'
'You're both right.' Soka commented, sounding tired as usual. 'Let's just wait for Eraserhead.'
"You know what I'd like?" Ayami suddenly said. "For all of you to shut the fuck up so I can do my job!"
'Meanie....'
'Sorry, Ayami.'
'Whatever....'
Before long, Aizawa showed up with Hawks, the two both staring.
".... Wow. When you said it was a siren, I thought you were joking." Hawks said, walking over.
"You can stop using your quirk." Aizawa quickly said, his capture scarf wrapping around.the woman.
The eyes from Circe's quirk closed, the woman snapping out of the control. She blinked, before narrowing her eyes.
"That was.... Unfair." She hissed at her, the way she said it reminding Aizawa of how Mirei gets when she's annoyed.
"So, just to be clear, she's an actual siren, right?" Hawks asked Circe. "Like, the sing you to death kind of siren?"
"Yes." The woman growled.
Aizawa glared, saying "Who are you anyway?"
The woman paused.
".... You may call me Orca." The woman introduced. "I must apologize. I simply needed go confirm the girl's identity.... For now, my orders are only to observe. It appears that not even you know what she's going through."
"What does that mean?" Circe questioned.
"The girl is coming of age." Orca replied simply. "She'll be sixteen soon, correct? Consider it like a siren's version of going through puberty.... Only a bit worse. You've seen the signs, haven't you? Increased vocal capacity, skin requires more hydration than usual, higher temperament to the point of being almost feral, spikes in emotional state.... Her body is changing in ways that you do not understand. That being human does not allow you to understand."
Noticing no-one cut her off, Orca took that as her sign to continue.
"She's not like other sirens. Her whole life as been around the land. She barely grasps what she is. She has been desperate for others like her, to get answers to questions that none of you can give her. She needs others who know exactly how to handle her. She needs to return home."
Aizawa recoiled at that, saying "What do you mean 'home'?"
Nobody spoke. They didn't need to. They knew exactly what she meant by "home".
".... You need to talk to Mirei."
Aizawa released her from his capture scarf, Hawks and Circe fixing him with a look.
"Are you insane?!" Circe questioned.
"She literally just got caught! You want her around your students?!" Hawks added.
"She's right." Aizawa said reluctantly, sounding annoyed by the truth. "We have no idea how to help her. She does. Of course, I have conditions."
"Name your terms." Orca responded.
Aizawa crossed his arms, saying "Before you tell Mirei everything, you need to talk to Nemuri Kayama. This is her decision. If she says no, then that's it."
"And what if the girl wants to know?" Orca retorted.
".... Then that will be Nemuri's problem. Do we have a deal, or not?"
".... Yes. We do."
