You're pacing across the hospital waiting room when the pros arrive. You rushed out of UA the minute the fight was over, calling Tsuchoutchi on your way to find out about Bakugo and what hospital they'll take all Might to. He informed you that Bakugo was successfully rescued (and some of your students were involved? He couldn't give you all the details right away.) and where to meet the ambulance.
Toshinori is carried in on a stretcher. You rush to him, ignoring the doctors shooing you away. He's barely conscious, but manages to smile and give you a shaky thumbs up. You feel relief wash over you. If he's retained his humor he must be okay. You tell him you'll be waiting for him to get out of surgery quickly before he's whisked off into the hospital where you can't follow.
You curl up on a chair in the waiting room, knowing it'll be at least a few hours till they'll let you in to see him. You're dozing off when someone sits down next to you, jarring you awake.
You glare at the intruding figure. It's Aizawa.
He had asked you where you were going as you hurried out of the quad, still slipping your shoes on. When you told him, he volunteered to drive you. You wonder if it was because he remembers how much you still struggle with the Japanese roads.
"No," you said, "I don't want to be an inconvenience." It was below the belt, and he really didn't do anything to earn it, but you're tired of him acting nice after treating you like shit just to turn around and hurt you once you let him in again. To be honest, you were touched he offered to drive you and to visit All Might, who he often doesn't get along with. You felt the need to overcompensate that feeling with your response.
You didn't expect him to come alone, however, and now you're left with the uncomfortable decision to ignore him, pretend nothing happened, or to apologize.
"Any news?" he asks you.
"No." you answer.
There's a few minutes of thick silence.
"You did good at the press briefing." You offer.
"They heard what they wanted to hear." Is his grim response.
A few more minutes pass. You stretch your shoulders, already tired of the cramped hospital chair, and as you're turning you notice Aizawa's hands are gripping his armrest hard, whitening his knuckles. You try to search his face but he turns away from you.
"Have you spoken to Vlad yet? About next semester."
You're surprised by his question. "Uhh... no. It's been pretty chaotic the last few days."
"I don't want you to move to class 1B."
You turn in your seat, barely believing what he just said and needing to see his face. Aizawa doesn't turn to you but he meets your gaze out of the corner of his eye.
"You want me to leave UA?"
"No." There's a flash of alarm in his eyes before they return to their normal stoicism.
"Then what? You want me to move to Support? I hate to break it to you, but you're not the authority on where I work."
"I want you in 1A."
Did he just?... "Wait, what?"
"This is an unprecedented time in our country. This is one of the most special and difficult classes I've ever taught, and we just lost both the Symbol of Peace and a member of the faculty. I want... I need your help."
How long have you waited for him to say that? After your fight in the woods, you were certain he didn't even care. Now, it's like music to your ears, but it's bittersweet.
