Toshinori walks you back to your quad but gets a phonecall on the way. He listens intently, freezing in his tracks. You wait for him, alarmed. "What was that about?"
He says your name excitedly. "We're going after the league."
It was Tsuchoutchi who called All Might, and he shared some sudden news. It turns out the police have been investigating possible leads on the League of Villain's location, and with the descriptions of villains at the forest lodge attack, they were able to locate what they believe is their headquarters.
On top of that, he tells you Yaorozu managed to attach a tracking device to the Nomu creature the night of the attack. She provided the police with a tracker, and they have the location of the Nomu- a warehouse somewhere in Camino ward.
The police are calling the top-ranked heroes to assist with raids on both locations, including All Might. It's shocking news but you're hopeful at the prospect of rescuing Bakugo.
"I won't be able to contact you about the mission," Toshinori tells you as he rushes to get ready. "But keep an eye on the news. I'll have Tsuchoutchi call you if we find Bakugo."
Toshinori leaves for his briefing, and right away you and the other staff gather around the TV in your quad to watch the press interview with Vlad, Aizawa, and Nezu. It's bizarre seeing the three of them in starched suits under those harsh, fluorescent lights.
Aizawa begins the briefing, explaining the situation at the lodge to the public.
"we are here to apologize. A recent incident allowed harm to come to twenty-seven first year heroes, and we staff were ill prepared. We take responsibility for any trauma caused by our negligence. It's our duty to train heroes, but also to protect heroes in training."
You grimace as the cameras zoom in on him. Aizawa hates being on TV.
It's completely silent in the lounge as you all watch the three men grovel. The press grills Aizawa, asking him pointed, unhelpful questions aimed to make him look bad. Nezu quickly steps in, emphasizing how safety is the top priority.
"Most of the students were harmed by the gas attack. We understand that the gas was the result of of a poisonous Quirk used by one of the villains. It's thanks to the quick actions of UA's own Luminescence as well as Ms. Kendo and Mr. Tetsutetsu that injuries were kept to a bare minimum."
The press moves on to ask about Bakugo's capture, with one reporter asking Aizawa if Bakugo is being brainwashed to be a villain. They point out his erratic behavior at the sports festival and you wince. It's true, he was unhinged that day.
"As Katsuki Bakugo's teacher, I take full responsibility for not taming his violent behavior. However, his actions at the sports festival were borne of his deep-seeded convictions. If the villains think they have a chance with him, they're sorely mistaken."
Watching the media harass Aizawa like this boils your blood. They're antagonizing him, trying to trap him or get him to slip up. Aizawa takes all of it, his air of calm and humility never even cracking. You're proud of him, even if you're still mad at him. You don't know why he insisted you not be there, but now you're kind of grateful for it. You could never hold your cool like that under such scrutiny.
Even though they handled the briefing well, it doesn't stop the onslaught of negative media that follows the next few days. Every channel is full of criticism of not just UA, but hero work in general. It scares the hell out of you to see people calling for the end of heroes. You can't help but see parallels with what happened in the US here. Once the people lost trust in heroes, it was only a matter of time until they wanted them all gone altogether.
