The morning light streamed through the windows, casting a soft glow across the room as Nunew slowly awoke. He blinked, disoriented at first, but then memories of the previous night came flooding back—his unexpected fever, the sweating, and Zee’s comforting presence beside him.

As he became more aware, Nunew noticed Zee sitting on the edge of the bed, a look of gentle concern etched on his face. Zee had been watching over him, ensuring that he had everything he needed. Even now, Nunew could feel the cool washcloth resting on his forehead, a testament to Zee’s care.

“Good morning, Hia,” Nunew said softly, his voice still a bit weak but filled with warmth.

Zee’s face softened into a smile, relieved to see Nunew awake and seemingly feeling better. “Good morning, Nuh. How are you feeling?”

Nunew took a moment to assess his body. The fever had broken, and the intense heat from the night before had subsided. Though he still felt a bit weak, he was no longer uncomfortable. “I’m feeling much better, thanks to you. I think the worst of it is over.”

Zee reached out to gently brush Nunew’s hair back from his forehead, his touch tender. “I’m glad to hear that. You had me worried last night. I wasn’t sure what was causing your fever.”

Nunew nodded, a small smile tugging at his lips. “I’m sorry for making you worry, but I’m really grateful that you were here with me. I don’t know what I would’ve done without you.”

Zee’s heart swelled with affection as he leaned in to press a soft kiss to Nunew’s forehead. “You don’t have to go through anything alone, Nuh. I’m here for you, no matter what. We’ll always face things together.”

Nunew’s smile widened, and he reached up to hold Zee’s hand, squeezing it gently. “I know, and that means everything to me.”

Zee carefully helped Nunew sit up, propping him up with pillows so he could be more comfortable. He handed Nunew a glass of water, watching as Nunew took small sips, replenishing the fluids he had lost during the night.

“Today, we’re going to take it easy,” Zee said, his tone firm but caring. “No activities, just rest. I’ll make sure you’re comfortable, and we can spend the day relaxing. Does that sound okay?”

Nunew chuckled softly, appreciating Zee’s protective nature. “That sounds perfect. I think a day of rest is exactly what I need.”

With the decision made, Zee set about making sure everything was in order. He fetched some light breakfast for Nunew—a simple bowl of warm soup and a slice of toast—to ease him back into eating. The meal was light and nourishing, and Nunew ate slowly, savoring the warmth and the care Zee had put into it.

As the morning turned into afternoon, Zee and Nunew settled back into bed together, the television playing softly in the background. Zee had selected a few of Nunew’s favorite shows and movies, hoping to keep the mood light and comforting. They lay close, with Nunew resting his head on Zee’s shoulder, finding comfort in his presence.

Zee occasionally glanced down at Nunew, making sure he was still comfortable and feeling alright. Nunew, in turn, found himself drifting in and out of light sleep, lulled by the soothing rhythm of Zee’s breathing and the warmth of his body.

In one of the quieter moments, Nunew opened his eyes and looked up at Zee. “Hia, thank you for everything. I feel so lucky to have you.”

Zee smiled down at him, his heart filled with love. “I’m the lucky one, Nuh. Being able to take care of you, to be here with you—it’s all I could ever want.”

Nunew’s eyes shone with affection as he snuggled closer to Zee, feeling safe and cherished. The day passed slowly and peacefully, with Zee’s unwavering support and care helping Nunew regain his strength.

By the time evening arrived, Nunew was feeling much better. The weakness from the morning had mostly subsided, and his energy was beginning to return. Though he was still taking it easy, there was a noticeable improvement in his overall condition.

As they prepared to settle down for the night, Zee made sure Nunew was comfortable, adjusting the blankets and pillows around him. He then climbed into bed beside Nunew, wrapping his arms around him and holding him close.

“Let’s get a good night’s sleep,” Zee said softly, his voice filled with warmth. “Tomorrow, we’ll see how you’re feeling, but for now, just rest.”

Nunew nodded, a contented smile on his lips. “Goodnight, Hia. I love you.”

“I love you too, Nuh,” Zee replied, kissing the top of Nunew’s head. “Sleep well.”

With that, they both closed their eyes, the events of the day slowly fading away as they drifted into a peaceful sleep. The bond between them had only grown stronger through the challenges they faced together, and as they slept, they were wrapped in the warmth of their love and the quiet comfort of each other’s presence.
