Nunew stood in the bathroom, staring at the small white box in his hands. His heart pounded in his chest as he carefully read the instructions on the pregnancy test, though he had already memorized them from the many times he had looked over the box in the past. The reality of what he was about to do weighed heavily on him, and his mind raced with a mixture of anxiety and hope.
He hadn’t thought he would need the tests anytime soon, but after everything that had happened between him and Zee—their heat and rut, the intensity of their bond—it was now a real possibility. Nunew had known for a long time that, as an omega, he had the ability to get pregnant. Zee knew this too, but they hadn’t expected to face the possibility so soon.
His fingers trembled slightly as he tore open the packaging, his thoughts drifting to what this could mean for their future. If the test was positive… what would he do? How would he tell Zee? Would they even be ready for something like this, so soon after being mated?
Nunew took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing heart. The idea of having children with Zee was something they had talked about before, something they both wanted in the future. But now that the possibility was right in front of him, it felt like the world had tilted on its axis. Was he ready for this? Was Zee ready?
He couldn’t avoid it any longer. With one more steadying breath, Nunew took the test.
The minutes that followed were some of the longest of his life. Sitting on the edge of the bathtub, Nunew anxiously bounced his leg, glancing at the timer on his phone every few seconds. His mind swirled with a million thoughts—what if it was positive? What if it wasn’t? What would this mean for him and Zee?
When the timer finally beeped, Nunew’s stomach twisted with nerves. His hands shook as he reached for the test, his heart pounding in his chest. Slowly, he turned it over to see the results.
Two lines.
Positive.
Nunew’s breath caught in his throat, his eyes widening as he stared at the test in disbelief. He was pregnant. There was a tiny life growing inside him, a part of both him and Zee.
For a moment, everything felt unreal. The world seemed to blur around him as he processed the reality of what had just happened. He was going to be a parent. He and Zee were going to have a baby.
A wave of emotion crashed over him—fear, excitement, joy, and uncertainty all mixed together. He had always wanted this, but the suddenness of it made him feel like he was standing on the edge of a cliff. How was he going to tell Zee? Would Zee be happy? Would he feel the same way Nunew did?
Taking a deep breath, Nunew carefully set the test down on the bathroom counter. He stood there for a moment, staring at his reflection in the mirror. His mind raced with a thousand different thoughts, but one thing was clear: he needed to tell Zee, and he needed to do it soon.
With shaky hands, Nunew walked out of the bathroom, his mind still spinning. Zee was in the living room, sitting on the couch with a book in his hands. He looked so calm, so peaceful—completely unaware of the life-changing news Nunew was about to share.
Nunew hesitated for a moment, his nerves getting the better of him. He wasn’t sure how to start, how to even bring up something like this. But he couldn’t keep it from Zee. They were in this together.
“Hia?” Nunew’s voice came out softer than he intended, but it was enough to catch Zee’s attention.
Zee looked up from his book, his expression instantly softening when he saw Nunew standing there. “Hey, baby. Everything okay?”
Nunew swallowed hard, his heart pounding in his chest. “Yeah… I just… I need to talk to you about something.”
Zee’s brow furrowed slightly in concern, and he set the book down, giving Nunew his full attention. “Of course. What’s on your mind?”
Nunew took a deep breath, his hands trembling slightly as he stepped closer. “You remember how we talked about… having kids? One day?”
Zee’s expression softened, and he nodded, a small smile tugging at his lips. “Yeah, I remember. Why?”
Nunew bit his lip, trying to steady his racing thoughts. He didn’t know how to say it, so he just blurted it out. “I took a pregnancy test… and it was positive.”
The room fell into a heavy silence. Zee stared at Nunew for a moment, his eyes widening as the words sank in. “You’re… you’re pregnant?” he asked, his voice filled with a mixture of surprise and disbelief.
Nunew nodded, his heart racing as he watched Zee’s reaction. “Yeah. I’m pregnant.”
For a moment, Zee didn’t say anything. He just sat there, staring at Nunew as if trying to process the enormity of what he had just heard. Then, slowly, a wide smile spread across his face, his eyes lighting up with pure joy.
“Nhu,” Zee breathed, standing up and crossing the room in a few quick strides. He pulled Nunew into his arms, holding him tightly as if he couldn’t believe it. “We’re going to have a baby.”
Nunew let out a breath he didn’t realize he had been holding, his heart swelling with emotion as he leaned into Zee’s embrace. “Yeah, we are.”
Zee pulled back just enough to look into Nunew’s eyes, his expression full of love and amazement. “Are you okay? How do you feel about this?”
Nunew smiled softly, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. “I’m scared, but… I’m happy, Hia. I want this. I want to start a family with you.”
Zee’s eyes softened even more as he cupped Nunew’s face in his hands. “I want that too, baby. I’m so happy. We’re going to be parents.”
Tears welled up in Nunew’s eyes as he hugged Zee tightly, overwhelmed by the emotions coursing through him. They stood there for a long moment, holding each other as the reality of their future settled in.
They were going to have a baby—a part of both of them, a symbol of their love and bond.
And no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.
