DECEMBER 22nd 1989Christmas was James' favourite time of year ever since he was a kid, he got to spend many with Nora before she passed, making it her favourite holiday. The kids loved playing in the snow, throwing snowballs or making snowman's with Millie in their big backyard.
It was a happy time, so why did James feel so sad?
He knew why, staring at himself and wishing he wasn't such a people pleaser, hating himself for not being there for Elena's funeral, knowing Nora and her were best friends, knowing Theo and her were once best friends.
But he framed Atticus and killed Nora, there the day she died, there the night she tried to spare her life for her sons. She'd be disappointed to know James didn't reach out to Elena, knowing she had nothing to do with this mess.
The kids were her at Bulstrode manor, taking the perfect opportunity to grab his flowers, sighing at himself in the mirror. He was doing this for Nora, nobody else.
Nott manor wasn't far from his own, walking and remembering how Nora found it so easy to apparate from one manor to the other, falling in the bushes. James was trying to not punch himself for this mess, finding the right manor as he saw there was mail, deciding to be decent and grab it for him.
He was angry, annoyed and sad all rolled into one, knocking on the door and trying his hardest to remain calm. He was facing wife's killer after all these years, the one to plant the bugs, to know she was pregnant and yet still wanted to kill her.
Theodore Nott was the one to make her join the stupid death eaters in the first place, just to kill her in the end.
Watching the door open, James looked down to see the boy, his knees going weak— he looked like Elena. "Hey kiddo, your father home?" He asked nicely, theo nodding his head.
"You're Louise' dad?" He asked, James nodding as theo opened it wider for him. "I'm James, it's nice to finally meet you kiddo." James said with a smile, his eyes all puffy and red.
Taking off his shoes, Theo led James into Theodore's study, the door half open. "I'm here for her, not for you." James said, Theo running back to his toys, James shutting the door behind him.
Swallowing the lump in his throat, James watching Theodore turn in his chair, a glass of rum almost done, swirling to face his desk. "You know you shouldn't be drinking when you got a kid to now take care of." James said, grabbing the vase that wasn't holding anything, putting the flowers in there, notching the sink for the water.
"Now you're going to judge my parenting skills?" Theodore slurred, James checking the time to be eleven in the morning. Shaking his head, James kept his distance from the drunk, already seeing a shiner on his right eye, wondering who gave him that.
"Oh you're just loving this aren't you potter. This is my karma for killing your wife and now they've killed mine." Theodore scoffed, James hating that comment.
"Elena never did anything wrong, my wife died because you wanted her dead." James reminded, standing by the door. Theodore rolled his eyes, pouring more rum into his glass, humming.
"You know it shouldn't have been Atticus in Azkaban, it should've been you, Elena should've divorced you and little Theo would have a life that was different from yours." James said, Theodore scoffing.
"She did divorce me, we haven't been together the day Nora told Elena. She filed the moment she knew what I was doing, only stayed for the bastard." Theodore scoffed, James smirking for Elena, wishing he knew that earlier.
