Girls, it wasn't a subject Ronald Billius Weasley was very good in, in fact his best friend was a girl, treating her nothing out of the ordinary. Girls were always a hit or miss for Ron, and he realized at the Yule ball that they were quite beautiful to be around, the way their laughter would be contagious, a dimple on her right cheek and the way she smiled. All of that was from one girl, and her name was Louise Potter. Ron was always around Harry, and by an extent Louise was there, but he never truly appreciated her as a human, treating her like Harry's sister and nothing more.
Ron didn't know if it was because he's been stuck in this house for nearly two months now, or how Hermione is always talking his ear off, and sure he enjoyed her company.... but whenever Ron saw Louise, it was a better day for him— even though she's had a terrible mouth herself.
His brothers were expert in this subject, the three brothers eating breakfast early together, sitting in the kitchen. "So Ronald, how do you feel knowing you're a prefect?" Fred asked, slurping on his cereal for the whole house to hear.
"I'm happy, shocked even." Ron said, knowing him, Hermione and Louise were prefects for fifth year, finding out Draco was the prefect for slytherin too. "Never saw mum so happy over something we've done." George teased, Ron smiling at his brothers.
"I uh have a question for you?" Ron asked, both of them looking up at the same time. "How do you know when you fancy someone?" He asked, immediately regretting it when they both smiled like freaks, wiggling their eyebrows.
"Looks like ronnie fancies someone." The twins said at the said time; the boy rolling his eyes. "Oh come off it, I know you two liked the same girl at one point." Ron told them, Fred going quiet over that comment.
"You haven't been in contact except the three girls that are here. Not to mention one of them is Harry's sister." George pointed out, Ron understanding that.
"I know, I'm just curious." He said, not wanting this discussion to be for the whole house to hear. "I remember when I liked someone, then again I liked two girls at the same time."
All looking up and near the kitchen door, it appeared James was up first this time, holding a cup of coffee as he took a seat next to Ron, the twins and him confused. "How'd you know you liked both?" Asked Fred, James taking a sip of his coffee.
"Well for the record, I liked Lily Evans since first year, all the way until maybe fifth year I think? Then, suddenly I started looking at Nora differently but still had lingering feelings for Lily. I never knew why until I realized I'd die for Lily but I'd kill for Nora and eventually noticed Nora more and began to fall in love with her."
It sounded so plain and simple, watching his smile fade, opening up a little more.
"It wasn't that easy, I kissed Nora the day Sirius was disowned, still wondered what it was like to be with Lily when Nora was there the whole time. I was stupid— unreliable and just a plain idiot for taking forever to be with Nora. She was my person." James told them, feeling comfortable with these three boys over the span of two months.
"Did you ever wish you didn't like professor Evans?" Fred asked, James shaking his head. "If I didn't like Lily I wouldn't have been with Nora, I only ever saw her as Sirius' twin sister before fifth year, nothing more nothing less."
That sounded way too familiar for Ron, slurping on his cereal to avoid blabbering something. "You're telling this story all so wrong." Said Remus, in a blanket coming over.
"How? That's exactly what happened." James said, Remus laughing. "Oh how delusional you are," Remus said, staring at the boys.
"This man would purposefully find Nora to pick a fight with her, the common denominator? Sirius. Arguing about who was abetter sibling figure, better quidditch player and how Slughorn would purposely make them partners. He was even jealous thinking her and Atticus were dating—"
