The following morning, the sun peeked through the blinds of Sarah's living room as she reviewed her notes from the previous day. The revelation about Karen's troubled past had been a critical step forward, but the investigation was far from over. Sarah's thoughts were consumed by the need to piece together the remaining clues and confirm her suspicions about Karen's involvement.

The phone rang, jolting Sarah from her thoughts. She answered, her heart racing in anticipation. It was Lucy, her voice urgent and tinged with excitement.

"Sarah, you need to hear this. We've just had a new witness come forward with information that could be crucial to the case."

Sarah's pulse quickened.

"What did they say?"

"There's someone who claims to have seen Karen with Lily," Lucy explained.

"They've come forward with details that could finally confirm Karen's involvement."

Sarah's mind whirred as she processed the information.

"Where can I meet this witness?"

Lucy provided the address of a quiet café where the witness had agreed to meet. Sarah thanked her and quickly made her way to the location, her heart pounding with anticipation.

The café was a cozy, unassuming place, and Sarah arrived to find Lucy already seated with a middle-aged woman who looked nervous but determined. The witness, whose name was Janet, glanced up as Sarah approached. Her eyes were filled with apprehension, but there was a resolute edge to her expression.

"Sarah, this is Janet. She has crucial information about Lily's disappearance," Lucy introduced.

Sarah took a seat across from Janet, offering her a reassuring smile.

"Thank you for coming forward, Janet. Can you tell us what you know?"

Janet took a deep breath, her hands trembling slightly.

"I've been keeping this to myself for a while, but after hearing about Lily and seeing the news reports, I realized I needed to come forward."

Lucy encouraged her gently.

"Please, go ahead. We need to know everything."

Janet nodded.

"A few weeks ago, I saw Karen Wilson at the park near the train tracks. I didn't think much of it at the time, but I saw her with a little girl who looked a lot like Lily. I thought it was strange because Karen seemed to be acting very secretive."

Sarah's heart skipped a beat.

"Can you describe what you saw in more detail?"

Janet continued,

"Karen was talking to the little girl, but the girl was wearing a mask, so I couldn't see her face clearly. They were getting into a car, and Karen was being very cautious, looking around as if she didn't want anyone to see them. I saw the car drive off in the direction of the cabin by the train tracks."

Lucy and Sarah exchanged a glance, realizing the significance of Janet's information.

"Did you recognize the car?" Lucy asked.

Janet nodded.

"Yes, it was a dark-colored SUV. I saw the same car parked outside the cabin by the train tracks a few days later when I went for a walk. I didn't connect the dots until now."

Sarah's mind raced with the implications.

"This could mean that Karen has been hiding Lily at the cabin all along. We need to act fast."

Lucy agreed.

"We should coordinate with the police to investigate the cabin again, focusing on Karen's connection to it."

Sarah thanked Janet for her bravery and detailed account. She felt a surge of hope and determination. The new witness's testimony had provided a crucial piece of the puzzle, and it solidified her belief that Karen was indeed involved in Lily's kidnapping.

As Sarah and Lucy left the café, they began making plans to revisit the cabin and gather more evidence. The new lead gave them a renewed sense of urgency and purpose. With each step closer to the truth, Sarah's resolve to find her daughter grew stronger. The investigation was gaining momentum, and she was ready to confront Karen and unravel the full extent of the deception.
